It’s been another year. While on the surface, 2021 was a better year for Jim and me personally and professionally, I look back on it and feel like it was a much more difficult year. It certainly was a much longer year than the last. It seems to have languished as much as everyone else on Earth.
I was going to list out everything I want to accomplish in 2022, continuing certain things I started for myself in the last quarter of 2021, except I won’t do that to you or myself. Instead, I can only hope that 2022 is a much gentler year for all of us. We all deserve it.

Happy New Year, Michelle!
Thanks, Heather! I hope you have a wonderful 2022!
Languished is the key word. Adam Grant wrote about it in a New York Times article and captured it well, I think: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/19/well/mind/covid-mental-health-languishing.html. Hopefully, 2022 will be less languishing and more living.
I remember when the media declared that “languish” was the word of the year for 2022. It was the perfect description of what I was feeling for most of the year. I was able to start breaking out of my ennui towards the end of the year, and I certainly don’t want to go back to that lack of energy and interest again!
