Happy Sunday!
It’s been a relaxing few weeks here as things have settled down a bit. Connor being home has been a tremendous help with getting the house back in order and in general helping pick up some of the driving. Everyone has been pitching in on cooking and laundry. It has been nice being home again with no plans to travel for the next two months.
Speaking of Connor, he starts his internship on Monday. Jim was able to get him hired for the summer at his company working on at least three different engineering projects. Having an internship is rare for someone just finishing his first year of college, so he is both excited and anxious to get started. It will be good for him to get a taste of real life as he faces the same 70-90 minute one-way commute with Jim every day. Plus, it affords him the opportunity to earn a decent salary for the first time ever. I know I am excited for him. We shall see how he does!
Holly has roughly three weeks of school left, but I doubt she is going to be doing much learning. She has three field trips between now and the end of school, an awards ceremony off-campus for her poem that was published, a graduation celebration, and who knows what else. She has two more weeks of dance classes as well, two different recitals, and one last band concert. It is a lot to put into three weeks, but the end is in sight for all of us.
I hope you are all enjoying your weekend however possible. As I type this, the sun is shining, but I know scattered showers are in our forecast for the rest of the day. As yesterday I did the household chores, I am okay with whatever weather comes our way. I get to do nothing but relax.
Have a wonderful week, and I will see you back here next time!

Well I’m way late to the party but I think that’s awesome that Conner will get some real life experience and salary this summer! Also that you’re having some time to relax and get things together. It’s been crazy busy for you this semester! I think even more so than I’ve seen in the past.
It has been an interesting spring. It was definitely busier with three more competitions than normal.
Congrats to Connor on his internship!! Congrats to Holly for her upcoming award for her poem. Fun stuff.
I am feeling very negative today and it’s a shame because it’s our 21st wedding anniversary but we are both working homeless outreach and then my daughter has a late rehearsal from 9-10 so we can’t really plan anything. He mentioned takeout but I am not sure when we’d have the time to get it or eat it. Oh and I am in a bad mood over the choir auditions. Just doesn’t sit right.
Happy anniversary! I hope you were able to enjoy some of it. Those choir auditions. I know exactly how you feel. I’ll explain in an email.
I’m glad things are slowing down for you and your family. Seems like the last few weeks of this month are going to be crazy…same for us, too. Dance Comp tryouts this weekend. Rehearsals next week and recital next weekend. I’ll be glad when it’s over.
That’s awesome about Connor’s internship!!
Hope you enjoyed your relaxing day yesterday!
We get a bit of a break in June but not much of one. I have long since resigned myself to wearing out the asphalt between our house and the studio!
Whoa! Is Holly your daughter? She sounds crazy busy! I’m so excited for school to end. There should be a rule about school not going past memorial day.
She is. Yes, crazy busy is how she loves her life. She is only thirteen too, so we have several more years of this!
I can’t complain about school ending the first full week in June. There is a state law that says they cannot start until September, so they still get a long summer.
Cloudy here and some rain today, but I am okay with that. Don’t have to mow today. But will tomorrow.
We mowed on Friday but will have to do it again tomorrow. The weather patterns are just perfect for optimal grass growing, which is both good and bad.
The sun is honestly shining way too much here! We’ve been drought drought drought down here, which is very unfair: If I’m going to have to put up with 90+ degree highs, I at least deserve seasonal afternoon thunderstorms.
I would love to send you some of our rain. It is raining again today. We ended up having to close the windows and turn the heat back on yesterday as well. But it is supposed to be in the upper 80s by the end of the week, so go figure.
Glad to hear things are settling down for you (especially once you make it through the next three weeks!). I’m sure you’re enjoying having Connor home!
Thanks, Lisa! Having Connor home has not been without its share of adjustments and tension. That whole first summer back from college is always tough for everyone, but it has been good.
