Happy Sunday!
It’s been an exciting week at the Shannon household. Everyone probably already knows that we decided to rescue a puppy this week. Tallulah is now the big sister to Cletus, a seven-week-old pitbull puppy. Of course, getting used to a new pup is never easy, and he is so very tiny and young. The first night he was not very happy, crying and howling almost every hour. The second night he slept for seven hours straight though so at least we were able to recover from the sleep deprivation of the previous night. He loves to pull on Tallulah’s ears, but his favorite thing is to snuggle on one of our laps and play with his toys. Tallulah is still showing her jealous side, but we all know it is a matter of time before they cuddle together for naps.
Of course, amid all this excitement of the new pup is the fact that Jim is leaving for Australia on Wednesday of this week. It really is the trip of a lifetime, but I know both Holly and I are a little worried about having to take care of Cletus on our own while managing work and school and dance. He’s just not old enough to hold his bladder for the hours we need no matter how I rearrange my schedule. I am sure it will all work out, but it still a worry as we head into this week.
If that were not enough, Holly sent a text message to us on Friday morning stating that she was going to be a published author. A poem of hers she wrote is being included in some sort of anthology. I don’t know any of the details yet because her teacher didn’t have any. Her teacher was so excited that she had to share the news and will get back to us at a later date with the pertinent information.
After all that good news, we are all taking it easy today, playing with Cletus and taking turns taking him outside for potty breaks. Holly’s dance studio is participating in a charity dance recital this afternoon. Holly is not dancing, but her team is performing two routines during the event. We will all be in attendance to cheer for them, but then it is back home for more puppy time and relaxing. It’s going to be a crazy month starting Wednesday, so we better relax as much as we can while we can!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend and relaxing Sunday. I wish you all a speedy and stress-free work week, and I will see you back here next week!

Here are past posts from the last few weeks in case you missed them the first time:
- It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?
- A tale of two feminist novels
- The good and the bad in recent mystery novels
- The Night Child should come with a warning label
- Fabulous Friday – 26 January 2018
- What’s for Dinner? – Week Starting 20 January 2018

Hooray for Holly!!! That’s awesome!!! 🙂 And Cletus is so stinkin’ adorable, I don’t know how you stand it! Hope Tallulah comes around soon; I’m sure it’s got to be hard for her, but like you said I bet they are best of buddies soon.
He is a cutie and a pretty decent pup. I miss the freedom having an older dog means, but that will come in time. Tallulah is coming around. Last night, she didn’t even sleep on my bed and ended up sleeping in the same room as the pup. I can’t wait to see what happens when he doesn’t have to spend the night in his crate because I have no idea whether they will curl up together or if it means everyone will curl up with us.
Yay for the girl!! A published author. You must be very proud.
Cletus is adorable. He is gonna be such a love. My own pup has taken to sleeping on my head this week. She gets a little clingy during production week but this show has not been bad at all. Someone is always home since I work opposite shows to what the girl is in. Last night, my pup breathed into my face the entire nice. I kept pushing her off only to have her return. Pups.
My son’s first day at the ESPN Wide World of Sports is today. He doesn’t know if there will be a big Super Bowl gig at the venue this Sunday but if there is and he has to work it, it would be cool I think. So far, so good.
I am! I just wish I had more details about this anthology.
He will be a love; I just have to survive house-breaking. He is so little and the timing of Jim’s trip sucks. I can only get home after four hours, and he just cannot hold it that long. I feel so guilty. I know he will not remember this, but it breaks my heart that I can’t be home more often for him until he gets older and gains more bladder control.
Yay! I think the ESPN venue is a lot of fun, although it’s a complete stretch for him isn’t it? How is he doing? Loving it or hating it so far?
Is the trip to Australia for business or pleasure? Just curious.
Glad to hear Cletus is settling in and also about Holly’s poem. How cool!
It is for pleasure. A lot of old family friends live in Australia, so my mother-in-law is taking her four boys to tour the country and visit these friends. He will have a blast. I will be counting down to his return on the 18th!
Ooh, congrats to Holly on the publication!! Good luck with the new pup this week.
Thanks, Amanda!
Have a good week! Hope your husband has a wonderful trip, congrats to Holly on her poem and being published, and good luck with Cletus! LOL
Thanks, Kay!
Cletus is so adorable. I hope Jim has a wonderful time on his trip! And that things aren’t too stressful for you while he’s gone. So exciting that Holly will have something published!!
Enjoy the rest of your day!
Thanks, Brandie! He left today, so we shall see how it goes!
