FINISHED SINCE THE LAST UPDATE:
Gin Phillips’ latest novel was wonderful and difficult and emotional and suspenseful and totally not the thing to be reading on the day of the largest mass shooting in U.S. history.
DID NOT FINISH:
So far, so good.

I’m super curious about Sing, Unburied, Sing. I’ve been seeing it around and I think it was on BOTM last month as a selection.
I started the new King last night. My first book of his…and so far I really like it.
It’s quiet. I read one description which likens it to Faulkner, which scares the ever-loving shit out of me because I do not like Faulkner. So far, it is pretty decent but slow.
The new King novel is not quite what I expected it to be. It definitely is not horror, unless something shifts soon. I almost like his non-horror novels better than his horror ones. It remains to be seen how this all unfolds.
Oh Lord – I can imagine reading Fierce Kingdom on the Vegas shooting day was not auspicious timing! But, glad to hear you enjoyed it nonetheless. I’ve toyed with picking it up, but we’ll see.
And I just finished Sing, Unburied, Sing…I can see why it’s getting accolades, but I kept zoning out. Not sure why.
Fierce Kingdom is an excellent book, but I think people are going to need some time before they start it. Vegas was just too horrific.
Sing, Unburied, Sing is good, but I can see why you were zoning out. It doesn’t exactly have me rushing to finish my chores so I can read it.
