Thank goodness for the readathon. Had I not found those few hours to participate, I doubt I would have finished one book this week, let alone three!
FINISHED SINCE THE LAST UPDATE:
Deon Meyer’s novel is a gorgeous story about survival and community and the ills of society. The 500+ pages flew past as I was totally immersed in the story. It is so well-written and so realistic, every time I paused in my reading I had to stop and remind myself that it wasn’t real. This is a book I want to put on everyone’s radar.
The Ali Land book was creepy and intense and wonderful for those reasons. The child of a female serial killer who turns her own mother into the authorities? Yes, please!
The second in the Frost Blood series was just as good as I hoped it would be. The only problem is now I have to wait for the third book!
DID NOT FINISH:
I love when this category is empty.
CURRENT LISTEN:
I am thoroughly enjoying Uncle Stevie’s homage to women. It is definitely not what I expected. The horror is of the reality kind – the kind women face every day – and I have yet to decide if this makes it scarier or less scary in the long run.
NEXT UP:
So, what are you reading?

I’m so glad you got to join and get so much reading done!!
Me too! 😉
I got Sleeping Beauties free from BOTM last month and figured I may not ever read it b/c I’m not a fan of his horror. But, maybe I’ll give it a shot at some point.
It definitely is not horror, IMO. More like his 11/22/63 with something supernatural going on but the humans provide the horror through their actions and words. I have four-and-a-half hours left in the audiobook and have no idea how it is going to end.
