We should always find ways to celebrate the little things in life. What better day to celebrate these little things than the best day of the week? So, here are the things that make this a Fabulous Friday for me this week.

- STUDENT COUNCIL CAMPAIGN FEVER – Holly came home last weekend debating whether she wanted to put her name into contention for her middle school’s student council. I have no idea where she got this idea or why. She has never expressed interest in it prior to this moment, but by Monday morning, she was fired up about doing it. So, here we are in campaign poster world. The first vote is next week, and she has to prepare her speech in front of the student body. She is beyond excited about this, so we shall see where it goes. Now, please pass the glue.
- LAST PARADE OF THE YEAR – I really do dislike parades. There are clowns and grabby kids and strangers running around in costumes. It all makes me very uncomfortable. Thankfully, Holly’s last marching band parade of the year is this weekend. There is even a chance they might not march if the weather forecast calls for rain. All I know is that I will be happy when this season is past us, and I don’t have to stand and watch any more freaky people just to see my kid walk past in 30 seconds.
(Now this is a parade I would enjoy!)

What makes this a Fabulous Friday for you?

I always feel the same way about parades! I can never understand standing around for a long time and getting caught in a mass of people leaving only for a few minutes of actual parade. The only parade I ever enjoyed was when an annual parade went right by my grandma’s house and you could sit out in the lawn and enjoy time with each other and have a great view of the parade to boot.
That would be my type of parade. It is the having to drive, find a place to park, find a place to stand, and deal with humanity through all of it that makes them a form of torture for me.
Wow, this is very ambitious of Holly! I would sink into the floor if I had to give a speech in front of an entire school, so I am hugely impressed. Way to go kiddo!
I know! I am so impressed with her. I guess all that time on stage has paid off in more ways than one!
Student council can be fun but grueling. Evan did it for a few years in high school and man, they worked him. What position is she going for?
Also, can this day be over yet?? I am still at work and then we have a four hour cast party, of which, we will only stay for a short while. I don’t think either kid will want to stay long but I could be wrong. They used to have one after every show but now it’s hit or miss so this one covers THREE shows: Shrek, Grease, Joseph. But, I get to sit outside at the park and I have been in this chair all day so that will be nice.
She is going for president but she needs to make it to the final round before they start looking at specific positions. I think there are 8 kids and they will take the top three. Then the school will vote on the three for each position. Weird to me but they make it like a national convention, with each class representing a different state. The kids really get into it.
Today was SO long. I hope, for your sake, you don’t have to spend too much time at the cast party. I know what it feels like to not be able to go home on Friday nights. Holly has 90 minutes of dance every Friday night so we won’t even think of dinner until almost 8 PM!
Lol, I couldn’t agree more about parades. They’re awful!! I hope it gets rained out, for your sake.
That’s awesome that Holly is running for student council! I never could’ve done a speech in front of everyone – good for her!
It looks like the weather forecast has changed, and the rain has been taken out of it for Sunday. Boo.
I was never one for speeches in front of people either. I am so proud of her though; she is beyond excited. It isn’t the Holly I know, but it is so good to see her so vested in something outside of the dance studio. I love watching her blossom and grow like this.
