Hosted by Kathryn from Book Date, this is a weekly event to share what we’ve read in the past week and what we hope to read, plus whatever else comes to mind. To learn more about each book, just click on the book cover!
The long weekend was just what the doctor ordered to help me get prepared for this most hellish of weeks. If I manage to finish one book next week, I will consider myself lucky.
FINISHED SINCE THE LAST UPDATE:
This Jennifer McMahon novel was a huge disappointment. There is something about the story that did not click with me. I had the bad guy figured out within the first four chapters, and the rest of it was very choppy storytelling. I can only hope it is a rare miss for her, and that her next novel is at the same level I expect from her books.
CURRENT READ:
My first Backman novel, and I have to say I am impressed with what I have read so far. I like his writing style a lot. I look forward to finishing it!

So, what are you reading?

Oh boo! That’s disappointing news about the McMahon book! I love her books usually — she always does a great job of building suspense. Well, I’ll give Burn Town a miss and move on to some of the books in her backlist instead.
I was so disappointed because I just love her novels. Her backlist is so strong though, so one miss is acceptable, if not expected. Enjoy!
I’ve heard Bear Town is fantastic, so I’m glad to know you’re enjoying it! I hope to read it soon. I’m sorry Burn Town was a let down!! That’s unfortunate, and hopefully her next book is better.
Hope you’re enjoying your day and getting in some reading time before the busy week!
Thanks, Brandie! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Oh man, Beartown. I read that last week too and just loved it. AND – as far as Backman, I DNF’d A Man Called Ove…yet loved Beartown.
I am blown away by Beartown. It tore my heart out and ripped it into tiny little pieces. So, so good!
