We should always find ways to celebrate the little things in life. What better day to celebrate these little things than the best day of the week? So, here are the things that make this a Fabulous Friday for me this week.

We made it through another week of “What the hell is the president doing?” Somehow.
- The best type of phone call – Earlier this week, Jim received a voicemail from Holly’s principal. This typically is not the type of voicemail you want to hear, but when he listened to the message he got a huge surprise. She was not calling with bad news but to share a teacher brag about Holly. It seems that one of her teachers was in the office sharing his glee at having her in class, admiring her critical thinking skills, her poise, her kindness, her positive attitude, her willingness to have an open discussion about difficult topics. The principal felt it was something we needed to hear. She even went on to thank us for raising her. Never would I have thought we would receive a call like that, and it makes me feel so good to listen to her comments. When everything else seems to have gone to shit, that message is a shining beacon of light and hope that we aren’t totally horrible parents.

What makes this a Fabulous Friday for you?

Aww, what a terrific call to get. I’m sure it’s very well deserved! <3
Thanks, Jenny! It was definitely among the bright spots for the month!
From what it sounds like, you’re not even partially horrible parents. 🙂 …since you said you aren’t “totally” horrible parents.
Fabulous Friday here: 4-day weekend, a time for reading, music, family, and friends.
Thank you! Sometimes, especially with everything we have had to deal with about Connor, you just never know how effective or good you are at parenting.
I hope you are having a wonderful four-day weekend. I’ve seen glimpses of it on IG, and it looks like you are – in spite of the spectacularly bad Sharknado sequels. 😉
That’s great! I am glad the school passed it on to you!
Me too! As a parent, you always wonder just who your child is in public when s/he is away from you. This was a wonderful glimpse into her life and an even better affirmation that we have a great kid.
That really is awesome!! You never expect those calls to be good, haha.
Exactly!! It makes me love their school district even more than I already did.
What a great call to get!! You’re raising some awesome kids – you should be proud!
Have a great weekend, Michelle!
Thanks, Brandie! Things with Connor have been so tough lately, and situations like that always throw your parenting confidence out the window. This phone call was a nice affirmation.
