FINISHED SINCE THE LAST UPDATE:
Mindy Mejia’s latest novel is a rather disquieting story about the acts we put on for others and the consequences of those acts on our inner psyche. With her tale of forbidden love and lost innocence, it is the type of novel that will be excellent book club fodder for those of you looking for 2017 book club selections.
Molly Harper is and will always be a balm for my soul. Her novels are light and humorous and the perfect way for me to relax and remember not to take life too seriously. What a great way to end 2016!
The new Nick Cutter was also a fabulous way to end the year. It has been a long time since a book has frightened me enough to keep awake at night, but Mr. Cutter managed to do just that for me with his tale of a doomed colony and the devils that inhabit it.
Chris Bohjalian’s latest novel is equally impressive. 2017 is definitely starting out with some stellar new releases!
I tried this in print but felt bad that I may have given up on it too soon given the positive reviews it receives. We shall see.
I love this series and am SO excited to continue it!
So, what are you reading?
I’m finishing up Zadie Smith’s Swing Time! It started out a little slow for me, but I’m enjoying it now, and I have a YA romance lined up for when Swing Time’s finished. So, an excellent reading week for me so far!
I’m glad you are enjoying Swing Time more than I did! A YA romance? Which one?
Enjoy ALL of your books!
haha, I for some reason inserted the word ‘cats’ in the place of ‘acts’ in your blurb about Mindy Mejia. I was like um, what. lol Oh, yes, I should maybe read correctly. lol
Ha! Go get some sleep!
I’m hoping to read Everything You Want Me To Be soon. I keep hearing it’s really good.
It’s actually quite depressing but very good. I have to write my review for it, as I have it scheduled for Thursday.
