We should always find ways to celebrate the little things in life. What better day to celebrate these little things than the best day of the week? So, here are the things that make this a Fabulous Friday for me this week.
- HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL – While the school has had at least one home football game this season, tonight is the first time the marching band is performing at halftime. I always love a good high school football game; it makes me feel like I am back in high school again. Plus, I love watching Connor perform. Marching band is one of his favorite activities, and I always get a kick out of how serious he is about it when in uniform. This will be the first time we see him perform as a drum major as well. I can’t wait!
- CROSS COUNTRY – I may not run, but I do love watching my family run in my stead. There is something so peaceful and yet exciting about Saturday mornings with my coffee in hand watching teenagers push themselves. Tomorrow is Connor’s second cross-country meet and Holly’s first. I am looking forward to watching both of them, as well as the team, get it done. Go Milton Redhawks!

What makes this a Fabulous Friday for you?

We haven’t been to a high school game since our kids weren’t there any more. But I do love them, too. It does take me back to high school but I think it’s also the intimacy and, let’s face it, you usually have as much room in your seat as you need which cannot be said of the stadiums our college teams play in! Good luck to the kids in cross country!
I am definitely going to miss the high school games when we are finally done with them. I do like that there is usually more room to sit.
Sounds like a fun weekend! I hope he does well tomorrow!!
Thanks, Brandie!
We always go to the high school games but since we had no kid in school at the high school, it feels weird so we haven’t got yet. Next year, we will be there and the Girl is talking about cheerleading! What happened to theatre and choir?? Cheer is a huge commitment and she is prone to injury. I am thinking, no. I was a cheerleader and it was brutal. The girls were not nice.
Next year would be the only year where we would get a break from going to the games for the same reason – no kid at the high school. Holly is firmly on the poms side of cheering. She has been talking about making the poms team since she hit fourth grade and realized how many of the older dance girls are on poms. Granted, she also wants to do cross-country and marching band and dance. We have already had the discussions about tempering expectations and not being able to do everything.
Love your choices! Our high school does not have a marching band (a pep band, yes, a jazz band, yes, but no marching band. It makes me sad)
That IS sad! It would not be a high school football game without the marching band perform. The band director here LIVES for marching band season. It is his pride and joy. I think the transition to concert band is one that he has to do but would prefer otherwise.
Ah…fall is here, football and cross country. I’d sigh but I don’t want to rain on your parade. 😉 AND I like fall. I used to run cross country in high school for a couple of years and did some trail running in later years, especially in the fall months. It was fun…and cool. Here? Fabulous for me because I’m off for a second Friday in a row (although I do work tomorrow).
I hope you thoroughly enjoyed your Friday off. I love football, as you know. And I love watching the kids do any activity they enjoy.
Have a great week!
Hope the half time show and the cross-country meet go well!
It went well! More next Friday and Saturday too!
