We should always find ways to celebrate the little things in life. What better day to celebrate these little things than the best day of the week? So, here are the things that make this a Fabulous Friday for me this week.
- MARCHING BAND SEASON – Tomorrow is the very first marching band competition of the season. This year, in addition to watching Connor march across the field, we get to see him do all sorts of fun salutes during the awards ceremonies as one of the drum majors. I can’t wait!

What makes this a Fabulous Friday for you?

When Sunnie cheered in the football game on Friday night, she was so fascinated by the marching band when they took the field. It was too cute.
It is because marching band is awesome! (I say that now, but back in high school, I refused to be associated with it. Go figure!)
Marching bands! I love them! I also love how as a society we’ve decided to act like it’s totally normal for dozens of kids playing brass instruments to make shapes on fields using their bodies and you can’t even tell what the shapes are unless you’re high in the air. What a great idea. Humanity is awesome.
Friday was fabulous for me because I GOT A NEW NEPHEW. He is tiny and squishy and I love him.
Humanity is awesome! Think of all of the weird things we eat now because someone wondered what it would taste like. Or the games we play because someone else got bored. Using instruments to make shapes on fields is just another link in a long line of human creativity.
Congratulations on your new nephew!! How exciting!
So much fun! I had a lot of friends in the marching band in high school, and it was always fun to see them perform. I better Connor will do great!
Connor DID do great. The entire band did. I do love watching them perform. They take such pride in their performance.
Drum majors really know how to make an entrance. Enjoy the competition. Hope the weather is good for you.
I have some fun stuff happening this weekend. We are attending an 80s party hosted by someone I worked with 30 years ago!! He rents these warehouses out and has these mega themed parties. He did one for The Walking Dead, Mad Men, The Nightmare Before Christmas, etc. He really should have gotten a job in theme park entertainment or the movie industry because these parties are fully themed with food and costumes and accessory stores that you can visit so you can bling out your outfit.
Sunday, I have this big event for the middle school ministry. Rock walls, food, music, inflatables, a basketball tournament and lawn games. The kids are signing up in droves. It will be fun. I will be wiped out by 8pm.
I understand completely. Two competitions plus a cross-country meet will have me clamoring for the quiet and safety of my home and miserable all next week. The party sounds like it will be a blast though!
Sounds like it will be lots of fun!
Hopefully, it will be!
