Happy Sunday! It is supposed to be sunny and almost 80 degrees today. Seriously, you cannot get any better than that for weekend weather.
Unfortunately, I will be spending most of it inside…again. Holly has pictures at the studio. Since she is in so many dances this year, it means that she has to be there the entire time. Hopefully, we can get out of there around 2 and be able to enjoy the rest of the day. Yesterday’s pictures ran long, so we missed most of the day. I am resigned if we have a repeat of that but am really hoping we do not.
Another typical week here on the Shannon ranch. Track, dance, work, more work, more dance. Jim has started building a shed in the backyard for all of the lawn gadgets and stuff to clear out the garage for Connor’s car. He will be gone this week and was trying to get as much done as possible, so I played the primary chauffeur to and from practices. I had forgotten how disruptive that is because you can never get settled into any one chore before you have to go back out for the return trip home.
This week will be even crazier than normal with two band concerts, a regional track meet and hopefully a sectional track meet. All while Jim is at a convention. I have no food in the house. I still have not logged or shelved my books from BEA, and my laundry pile is larger than I like. In other words, I am so completely unprepared for this upcoming week that I am now just trying to ignore the warning signs.
In case you missed them the first time, here are the posts from this week:
- What Are You Reading? – May 16th
- The Fireman
- Girls on Fire
- Don’t You Cry
- Fabulous Friday
- What’s For Dinner
Okay, I really have to go. There is hair to curl and costumes to pack and laundry to start and…Calgon, take me away!

These past few weeks have been a whirlwind of “lasts” and this week is no exception. Tonight is my daughter’s last choir concert for the year. She will be in advanced choir next year for 8th so she can prep for high school choir. Wednesday is graduation for the Teen and he was done with school last Friday. This Thursday is his last Improv show and Friday is his Senior Showcase for Theatre. He just applied to a theatre program in Pasadena and was accepted so he will do his AA there and then probably transfer to Chicago since it didn’t work out this time around. He also got the paid internship at the Pantages and he is so excited about all of the shows coming including Hamilton.
Busy. The Girl’s last day of school is June 2. It will be nice to take a little break.
You made it! Are you enjoying your break?!?
Lol, Michelle you are supermom! I don’t know how you do it, but you always keep things running smoothly. I hope you did get home in time to enjoy some of the nice weather yesterday. Sunnie had her dance pictures yesterday, too. 🙂 All that work getting her dolled up for a whole 20 seconds of picture taking.
Have a good week – I hope it goes smoothly despite how hectic it plans to be!
Thanks, Brandie! I am so glad Holly prefers to straighten her hair over curling it. Plus, she does her own makeup now. It makes everything so much easier!
The difference between living in Wisconsin vs living in south Texas: I hear “80 degrees and sunny” and think “oh man, that sucks, better head indoors…” (as in GAH THAT’S WAY TOO HOT WHEN WILL DECENT WEATHER RETURN??)
I’ve been there, done that. I may not be fond of the winters here, even if it gives me a great excuse to stay home and hibernate, but the springs/summers/falls usually make up for the winters.
Sounds hectic! I have the laundry under control but other areas have really slid this week… And, we also need groceries which I usually get on the weekend and didn’t. So, could be a fun week. lol Hope you are more prepared than you expected!
Nope. Not prepared at all. I made it through the week, but I honestly don’t know how.
I just started Girls on Fire…enjoying it so far!
It’s dark, but I just love all the late 80s references.
Oh goodness! You do have a week ahead of you! Sounds like a good excuse for some takeout, a rotisserie chicken, breakfast for supper…!
I can’t even remember how I managed. That whole week is a blur.
