FINISHED SINCE THE LAST UPDATE:
Emma Cline’s debut novel is a must-read if there ever was one. If you have a copy, read it immediately. If you do not have a copy yet, get one as soon as you can.

Okay you sold me on The Girls. Thanks for the word. I dont even know what it’s about …. ?
Ha! Think a Manson-esque cult and crime…
Nothing as intimidating as Bonfire of the Vanities for me! I’m reading a novel by a Zimbabwean author about an albino girl accused of killing her guardian, and I’m really, really liking it. I hope I’m able to do it justice when I write a review — it’s dealing with identity and cultural assumptions in this way that I really love but am not sure exactly how to describe.
That sounds intriguing. I hope you enjoyed it!
So glad The Girls seems worthy of all the hype! I have that one coming up for me SOON! I’m super intrigued by The Trees – excited to hear your thoughts 🙂
Both The Girls and The Trees are excellent books, but so very, very different from each other. LOL!
I am so sad I missed The Girls at BEA! I’ll have to try to get into the top of the library line!
Absolutely! I think you are going to see it a lot when various awards’ long lists are released.
Okay, so The Girls is showing up everywhere today. I will likely have to get a copy. I need to see what else is coming out in June, though. lol
Get a copy and read it! You won’t regret it.
Oh dang – bumping THE GIRLS up on my BEA pile!
Do it!
I keep seeing The Girls on every summer reading list. Guess I need to try it!
It is SO good!
Glad you enjoyed The Girls – I did too!
It is one of those books I want to put into everyone’s hands!
I’m with you on The Girls! It’s one of a few books that actually deserves all the hype around it.
Yay for The Girls! I loved it so much. The message it sends about women’s anger is just…frightening and yet somehow perfect.
