Happy Sunday! It’s been a rather lazy day around here, as Holly and I recover from the last two days. The weather lately has been just plain odd. Yesterday had moments of sun and lots of clouds all while snowing. Today was sunny and about thirty degrees warmer but still windy. The sun has since disappeared behind clouds and the temperature is supposed to drop a good forty degrees tonight. I guess winter has not yet released its clutches on this part of the world.
The dance competition was a huge success. The girls did an outstanding job on all of their dances – all thirty of them – and there are a lot of new trophies and plaques to display in the studio. Of even greater excitement is the fact that one of the team’s dances won the Grand Champion award for the weekend, meaning it was the highest scoring performance of the entire event. This is the second year in a row the team has won this award. There were a lot of excited faces upon that announcement! Next week is the third competition of the year, and this will involve travel, a hotel, and not getting home until late Sunday evening. Onward and upward!
Connor had his first track meet of the season and broke a personal record for his 800 meter time and his mile time. Some of Jim’s and my competitive nature finally might be coming to the fore for him because he was not quite happy with that and has plans to improve in this week’s meet. He also received his ACT scores. Again, he had a great score but does not deem it good enough. He is already making plans to retake it to try to improve his score. Who is this boy and where was he a few years ago?
On Friday, Jim had his last day of work at the company that brought us to Wisconsin four years ago. I know it was bittersweet for him as he said good-bye to his employees, colleagues, and friends. He also left with several guarantees that this company would hire him back in a heartbeat should things turn south on this new adventure of his. Hopefully, it will not come to that, but I know hearing that made him feel much better about his future. Monday will be his first day at his new job. Based on how he is acting, his nerves are getting the better of him, but I know he will be fine. I am sure I will hear all about it tomorrow evening.
I kept to my regular schedule this week with What Are You Reading?, Fabulous Friday, and What’s for Dinner. I also posted reviews for Absolutely, Positively and The First Rule of Swimming. Since it was the end of March, I also shared some of My Favorite Things – March Edition. I finally got back into audiobooks, which was nice. They do help me concentrate on more mundane tasks at work and prevent me from dwelling on how much I hate to exercise.
As for the week, it is the first week of the month which means month-end close. I both love and dread this week every month because it is so hectic during the day with long, long hours at the office and yet strangely fulfilling as we push out each report. It is definitely not for everyone, but I do love it.
I hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday and has an even better work week. I won’t be posting anything next week because I will not be home, so I will see you back here in two weeks. Until then, take care and be good!

Congrats to Holly and Connor – they had great weeks!
Thanks, Lisa!
My husband and I worked for the same company for almost eight years, and similar to your story, they brought us both down to Florida six years ago as kind of a package deal. A month ago, my husband found a new, better opportunity that he just couldn’t refuse and resigned. He’s LOVING his new career but the transition was definitely difficult for him. It’s been difficult for both of us, actually – we went almost our entire marriage working for the same company so we truly understood what the other did every day. Now it’s completely different. All that is to say, I’m sure your husband’s job will work out to be the best decision for him, and good luck to him (and you!) with the transition.
Thanks, Heather! It will definitely be an adjustment for him, as he has been with his previous company for almost six years in one form or another. However, I do believe change is good, and with great risk comes great rewards. This is one of those situations where that axiom should apply. I’m sure he will adjust…eventually.
Does your daughter want to dance professionally? My friends have daughters who dance and they’ve recently gotten awesome scholarships for summer programs and colleges, etc. It would be so cool to dance professionally.
She announced last year that she wanted to try for Julliard. She has since changed her mind. I don’t know what she wants to do, but now she is talking about summer programs. Who knows?
30!? That sounds incredibly impossible, I’m so glad to hear the girls did so well! Cheers to them, and to Connor. It sounds like their both being very successful in their endeavors, so hopefully that success will continue for them and for Jim! It’s always exciting and scary trying something new, but we’ll be wishing your family the best of luck from the comments!
I’ll miss seeing your posts next week, I always look forward to them when I go through my Feedly, but it’ll be exciting to have you back eventually!
Yes. They have 30 dances among the team of 39 girls. It’s insane and makes for long days without a chance to really get a break. Still, they are such beautiful dancers that it is always a pleasure to watch them.
Thanks, Hannah! Have a good one!
Congrats to your kids on their successes this week, and good luck as y’all begin the new job adventure! Hoping it all goes well for you. Happy Monday! 🙂
Thanks, Amanda!
That is so awesome about the competition- congrats to all of them! To take home the grand award too – just awesome! And for Connor to beat his times, but still want to do better, good for him! I know I’ve said it before, but you have two pretty awesome kids.
Best of luck to Jim today. I hope his first day & week goes well.
The weather in Ohio this weekend was horrid. Saturday night we went from normal temps to a windstorm then blizzard in a matter of 5 minutes. It was insane! Nunz was grilling burgers when it blew through and had to save our grill from being blown away – the winds were that crazy! Almost like a snow tornado, I’ve never seen anything like it. Woke up yesterday morning to a few inches of snow, but by last night it was all melted already. Mother Nature has issues.
I hope all goes well next weekend! Have a great week!
Thanks, Brandie! We had that blizzard thing on Saturday too. Then, yesterday, it was in the upper 60s and sunny. Now? We are not even supposed to break a high of 40 degrees. All these weather changes give me a headache!
I hope things go well for Jim!!
Thanks, Kelly! He was a bit nervous this morning and did not sleep well last night, but I know he will be fine!
