FINISHED SINCE THE LAST UPDATE:
This was not my favorite Beatriz Williams novel. In fact, I had to resist the urge to skim a good portion of the book just to get to the end. As such, I am equally disappointed that it was not quite up to her previous standards and relieved that I finished it. I will be writing my review shortly, but you will have to wait to read it as the novel has a June release date.

I’m bummed to hear about the Beatriz Williams book. I haven’t read her latest either, but I do generally like her work.
I do too. Now, I will say that what I did not like about the book is a quirk of mine. I suspect others are going to love it, but it just touched on topics that are deal breakers for me.
Too bad about the Beatriz Williams book. I wasn’t thrilled with her Tiny novel so I dont think I plan to pick this one up. Right now I’m reading Americanah and listening to Wave as an audio.
You know, I was not a fan of the Tiny novel either. I never read the final book in the series. I guess I should take it as a sign.
Yay for the sky being the limit!!
I know! I’m excited!
Wow, that Washington. He’s quite the bullish hanger-oner, isn’t he? I’m so impressed you have stuck with it this long. Must be really good!
The covers on the other two books are just fantastic!
It is at least interesting. I just have not had much time to listen to it in recent weeks. I am at least more than halfway through the monstrosity.
Dang! I haven’t read any Beatriz Williams, but the cover of that book was so flipping pretty that I’d hoped it would be a good book! Actually, I kind of just want the outfit. I’m Matron of Honor in my friend’s upcoming wedding and we’re doing a 20s themed bachelorette party.
I agree that the cover is pretty fabulous. That dress and hair and make-up and accessories! Oh, to be young and thin in order to wear such things again.
I am reading the Drowning Game by LS Hawker and it is fantastic so far, check it out Michelle.
Yaaay on the reviews, that is great planning and organization.
I will definitely do so, Marce! Thanks!
No outstanding review copies – that’s great! It’s so nice to be able to read whatever you want. I’m sorry Williams book didn’t win you over. I hope your read this week is better!
It is a first in forever, and yes, it feels good!
Haha…what a delightful update on Washington. I’m reading the Hamilton biography and I feel like I could write something similar, “Hamilton is still fighting with everyone he’s ever met.”
LOL! These biographies are a bit of a slog, aren’t they?
I’ve felt exactly the same way about the last novel in the Schuyler family trilogy…Along the Infinite Sea. Do you think she’s publishing too much, too quickly??
That’s a great question. In the case of A Certain Age, it dealt with topics that are complete deal-breakers for me. The writing is still beautiful, but her subject matter had me wanting to throw the book across the room (even thought I was reading it on my iPad). I haven’t read Along the Infinite Sea yet, but I will admit to being surprised that she was releasing A Certain Age so soon after the end of the Schuyler family series. I know I was not all that impressed with the second book in that series either, so perhaps she is writing too quickly and not catching weaknesses in her stories.
