Happy Sunday! I hope everyone on the East coast is staying warm and dry. I have to say I am ever so slightly jealous about all of the snow you got. I could use one really good snow storm this winter, preferably on the weekend. Somehow, the cold weather is getting to me this year. The idea of being able to play in the snow and be homebound sounds wonderful.
Jim was on another business trip this week, so I had the pleasure of doing double-duty again as mother and father. It is getting a little wearing; I won’t deny it. He is gone again this week too. Sigh. I guess this is what happens when you get to be one of the big boys in a company.
Jim did come home in time to take Connor to his first college visit. The boys headed to the Twin Cities and checked out the University of Minnesota. Of course, he loved it. Not only is the campus state of the art but it has his chosen undergraduate degree. He came back with the obligatory t-shirt too. The idea of my baby becoming a Gilded Rodent is a bit difficult to swallow. After all, Badgers and Gophers are not necessarily friends, but you have to make sacrifices for your children. Now, I guess he needs to decide what other schools he wants to visit, if any.
Holly had a typical week with school and dance. Ballet rehearsals have not yet started, and she actually had a quiet weekend. Of course, this means she only had one hour of dance rehearsals on Saturday instead of three. Don’t worry. She still has three hours of dance today, Yay!
The auditors were here this week. The best part of this was the fact that I did not have to deal with any of it. This is such a great thing. I love the fact that I don’t have to deal with any of that this year. You cannot imagine the relief I feel.
Did you miss any posts this week? I posted my typical weekly summary recap as well as Fabulous Friday and What’s for Dinner? For reviews, I shared my thoughts on The Winter Girl and City of Stairs. Finally, I shared some more of my planning tricks in Getting Shit Done: Planning Part 2. Sometimes, simple really is better.
With Jim gone yet again, today will be spent getting things ready for the coming week. Groceries need purchasing. Laundry needs cleaning. Bills need paying. Holly has dance. You know – the usual. I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Have a great week, and I’ll see you here next Sunday!

Is Connor a junior or senior? Will he apply to Univ of Wisc too? That’s brave of you to let him be a Gopher if he wants. Hope your week isn’t a killer.
He is a junior, and yes, he is applying to Wisconsin. However, I think he has his heart set on Minnesota. I never thought a child of mine would be a Gopher. Ugh.
Oh, my thoughts are with you! It is so tough having a husband who travels a lot…and kids at home! Everytime my husband leaves town (he’s leaving for SF today for 3 days) or works really late (at least twice a week), I mentally commend all those single moms who do this day in and day out.
Yep. Even though the kids are older and obviously quite self-sufficient, there is mental drain to being the sole parent. I don’t know how single parents do it and maintain their sanity.
I couldn’t imagine having to do it all every day with my husband gone so much. Will there be a break when he’ll get to be home for awhile? Then you add the winter blues and cold – I’d just like to stay in bed all day!
I’m glad you don’t have to deal with the auditors anymore. Our year end is in April and I don’t look forward to the auditors bugging me constantly. It will be here way too quickly. This week I have to work on budgets, but I’m not finding my motivation at all today. Can I just go home and go back to bed?!
I hope your week goes quickly and smoothly, Michelle.
I honestly don’t know if I will get a break. I know he comes back this week late Thursday night and leaves again next Wednesday. I haven’t really looked at his travel schedule beyond that. I think I am afraid to do so.
I guess the auditors are still here. Hehehe. I love it. I hate how they ask you for a long list of things and then keep asking for more the entire time they are there. So frustrating. Budgets, well, I think we might finally have ours finalized this week. It’s been a long, slow and arduous process.
Heh – we were both apparently talking about being single moms for this Sunday’s reflection posts. 😀 I sympathize!
Hehe. Yeah, last week was week two. This week is week three. I am getting very tired of this.
