“Ben Mears has returned to Jerusalem’s Lot in the hopes that living in an old mansion, long the subject of town lore, will help him cast out his own devils and provide inspiration for his new book. But when two young boys venture into the woods and only one comes out alive, Mears begins to realize that there may be something sinister at work and that his hometown is under siege by forces of darkness far beyond his control.”

My thoughts on this one have not changed since I read it last year. It remains one of my favorite King novels of all time.

I did enjoy this one. I felt it lagged a little in that second half and no, I have not read Dracula. I tried to once but could not get past the slowness.
As far as King books though this is right up there with the best of ’em. I just finished Finders Keepers. It’s a different kind of book. King seems to be leaning more towards detective stories these days but I enjoyed it quite a bit.
I need to get back to Finders Keepers. I really enjoyed Mr. Mercedes but I agree he seems to be veering away from horror and more to mainstream detective stories.
