Thoughts on books, family, and life in one impressive package.

Sunday Reflections Button

This was the week of home renovations, and I am happy to say that I got all but my closet back. The finished product is absolutely gorgeous. Any pictures I take do not do it justice.  We are not completely done with our project ideas yet, but the floors were by far the biggest project we wanted to tackle ourselves this fall. Expect a longer post on this later this week.

While Jim and his brother were tackling the flooring, the rest of us were busy with our usual activities – school, work, dance, cross-country, marching band, homework, etc. Connor had a cross-country meet on Thursday where he set a personal best. Actually, he blew his old record away by 30 seconds. Up next is the conference meet where he wants to do even better. He also had two marching band competitions this weekend. At both, the band took first place. I know he is excited. Next Saturday is also the state marching band competition, so they are in a good spot heading into that final performance.

In spite of all of that, I still managed to post something every day this week. I started the week with my weekly reading summary and moved onto a reviews of The Gates of Evangeline by Hester Young, Good Enough to Eat by Stacey Ballis, and Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon. I finished off the week with this week’s Fabulous Friday and What’s For Dinner.

I would love to stay on task with more daily posts, but this upcoming week is the one we all dread in the fall. Extra marching band practices, longer cross-country practices, a football game, an extra dance class, Jim is traveling, and I am still trying to finish putting together the house. In fact, there was absolutely no rest today as Jim was putting the finishing touches on the floors, and I was working behind him cleaning. Neither of us has done a thing to get ready for the work week, and as of 7 PM, Connor is still not home. However, we have an empty laundry basket for the first time in two weeks and a house that is only slightly torn apart (still waiting for my bookshelves and my new closet organization stuff). In the end, that is all that matters. Such things like posts and planner decorating are certainly less important than getting my house back in order.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday. Have a great week, and I’ll see you on the flip side!
