I used to do this post and got away from it for whatever reason. This makes me sad because we should always find ways to celebrate the little things in life. Also, what better day on which to do this than Fridays? So, here are the things that make this a Fabulous Friday for me this week.
- Hardwood Floors – For the past few weeks, Jim and I have been ripping up carpets and doing odd jobs around the house to get ready for installing new hardwood floors. This weekend starts that section of the project, as my brother-in-law is arriving tomorrow to spend the week with Jim doing nothing but the new floors and any other projects they can fit into the week. I cannot wait to get my house back into a semblance of order. Plus, those floors are going to kick ass.
- Atlas Shrugged on audio – DONE! 63 hours of audio, and I finished it last night. I love the story and think Dagny is an amazing character, but dammit, Ayn Rand is WORDY. A three-hour-and-thirty-six-minute monologue is not normal. Still, there is something about the story that makes me want to stand up and kick some ass.
What makes this a Fabulous Friday for you?

A Fabulous Friday for me? My niece Grace turns one today. We will be celebrating her birthday on Sunday with a party.
Aw, happy birthday to Grace and have fun!
I have avoided Ayn Rand because I heard she was very wordie, but many people tend to like her so maybe I should give her a try. But 63 hours!?
Oh, you should definitely read her. I love Atlas Shrugged. It is one of my favorite books, even at 63 hours of audiobook.
I loved Atlas Shrugged too…and I comment you for listening to it! Not sure if I could have gotten through it that way!
I read AS the first time, so I knew for the readalong I wanted to try it in a different format. I am glad I did.
I love your Fabulous Friday posts! I’ve read Atlas Shrugged twice – I love the story and agree Dagny is a great character. I also have minor literary crushes on Francisco and Ellis Wyatt too.
Dagny is awesome! Oh, Francisco. I wish he would have ended up with Dagny. His struggle and his love for her are just so awesome. Ellis is great too.
Yay!! You finished Atlas for a second time! You deserve a special badge of honor. I bestow upon you, the Dagny award. Go forth and kick ass.
Woot woot! I suspect I will need to channel Dagny this week. It’s going to be a tough work week!
I love hardwood floors! Your house is going to look so amazing!
Finished that monster of a book IS a huge accomplishment!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks, Brandie! I know it is going to be beautiful. The chaos of the demo and work-in-progress is really beginning to get to me though.
