CURRENT LISTEN:
If I ever start listening to audiobooks again…
UP NEXT:
I’ve been alternating book roulette with review copies. It’s been fun and slightly exciting to finally get to some books that have been languishing on my shelves for years.
So, what are you reading?

Did you like The Fall of Princes? I’m making my way thru “Go Set a Watchman” and “Station Eleven” this week. We’ll see …
I did like it, although it was not what I expected. It is more of a retrospective than a true narrative. Different but Goolrick’s writing is simply gorgeous.
I really enjoyed HOUSE OF THIEVES. I hope you are enjoying it. I liked THE PARIS ARCHITECT better, but this one was different but good.
I have FALL OF PRINCES coming up soon. I like Robert Goolrick’s books.
Happy Reading!!

Silver’s Reviews
My It’s Monday, What Are You Reading
I agree. I was dubious about House of Thieves in the beginning, but I like the way it is developing and where the story’s trajectory is heading. I do agree that it is not as good as his debut novel, but it is still enjoyable.
Enjoy Fall of Princes! Robert Goolrick is an excellent author.
FEED keeps popping up on my Goodreads horror recs. How was it?
I liked it a lot. I am not certain I loved it enough to want to continue the series. I just don’t know.
I’ve seen House of Thieves in a few places lately. How are you liking it?
My method for picking books is similar to yours – I do review, library, personal book. It’s a nice balance between books I agreed to read and books I want to read!
I want to say that I am slightly disappointed with Balfoure’s latest novel; however, I have no idea in what direction the story will turn and that keeps me interested. So, the jury is still out on it.
I put Finders Keepers down to read my book club book, The Boys in the Boat. I picked it for October so I better get it read by 10/1 or else! I am not too far into it. Only 5% but I am skimming a little until I get to the good part.
I will probably listen to Finders Keepers someday. I just love listening to King too much.
I’ll be interested to see what you thought of Fall of Princes…I thought it was decent…a different kind of look at that time period. A bit more melancholy than the usual “drinking, drugs, and hookers” books.
It was decent, but it definitely was not what I expected. I was hoping for more story and less reflection. That period was so flamboyant, but the book was so subdued. It remains difficult to connect the two.
Oh I need to get to Fall of Princes soon. I am trying to get through Mothers Tell Your Daughters – maybe the saddest collection of short stories I’ve ever read.
Oh, that sounds rough. I am not a huge fan of short stories. Sad ones would be more than I could handle.
My reading pace has been all off, likely because I’ve been obsessed with my new paper crafting passions! I did finish The Mistake I Made by Paula Daly, enjoyed very much. I just started Did You Ever have a Family by Bill Clegg, I think it’s going to be gut wrenching, but very good. 3 days home in bed? I missed this, so sorry :(.
I find that on Sundays, the day I typically update my planner for the upcoming week, I do not read much, so I completely understand why your reading pace is off. It is not a hobby that lends itself well to audiobook listening either. I want to concentrate on what I am doing so that I do not miss an activity or mess up a design flow.
I’m so jealous you got through 4 books read. I am barely getting one book read a week, and it’s really starting to piss me off. I get grumpy when I can’t read more!
I read four books primarily because I was in bed for three out of the five weekdays. Plus, one of them was a really fast read. I know what you mean though. The whole family knows when I am not reading enough.
