I used to do this post and got away from it for whatever reason. This makes me sad because we should always find ways to celebrate the little things in life. Also, what better day on which to do this than Fridays? So, here are the things that make this a Fabulous Friday for me this week.
- Homecoming – There is something so special about homecoming week even as a parent. Seeing those students who graduated, watching your child get ready for the big dance. Every sporting event is a little more exciting. The whole week has an air of excitement and fun. Tonight is the football game and tomorrow is the dance. I cannot wait for both.
- Autumn – I know I am not alone, but I love this time of year. The weather that is warm during the day but cool at night. The sweaters. The blankets. The colors. Halloween. Pumpkins. Football. Cider donuts. Even though this is the craziest time of year for us, it is still my favorite season. And it is officially here.
What makes this a Fabulous Friday for you?

Definitely my favorite time of year too! My wedding anniversary is next week and the weather feels just perfect. I’m excited for soccer for the little one at the lake tomorrow.
Happy Homecoming at your house! How fun!
Yay for fall sports and fall anniversaries! If I could do it over again, I would get married in the fall. Such beautiful colors and so much opportunity for something unique and truly beautiful.
I thought I liked fall, but with the weather here in Pa. going from extra hot to cool, it’s almost too cool. Of course, I’ll complain about winter too. Maybe spring, I won’t complain. 😉
As for what makes this a Fabulous Friday for me, I’m not working today and had off yesterday too. Sure, I have to work tomorrow, but it was a nice break in the middle of the week for a change. Had a vacation day yesterday and the day before we work on Saturdays, we have the Friday off (something about pay weeks, I’m not sure) so why I decided to take vacation day yesterday. Can’t say I’ve done much today, unlike yesterday when wife and I discarded several books as part of our own KonMari project, but that’s okay. Just chilling.
I understand. That first temperature swing was brutal. We have eased back into fall-like weather with warm days and cool nights. It is just about perfect.
Very nice! I hope you were able to enjoy your days off and will still have a wonderful weekend!
Enjoy all the homecoming festivities!
I completely agree – I love this time of year. It’s a bit too warm during the day for me, though. I need it to cool off another 10 degrees. I said ‘screw it’ this morning and wore my boots and a comfy sweater. I’m ready to put away my flip flops and shorts now!
I was surprised by how quickly it cooled off. I went out at 1 PM and was uncomfortably warm in my sweater. When I left work at 4:30, I was thankful I had my sweater. I will have to get creative for tonight’s game!
The Teen and his girlfriend decided not to attend the homecoming game tonight or the dance! They are having a picnic. I am miffed a little. It’s his senior year and his last homecoming but no. And because he isn’t going, my family doesn’t want to go to the game tonight either. None of his friends made court which is so weird so I guess I won’t be missing much but still.
This is C’s first time attending the dance, which is tomorrow. He has had to participate in homecoming events every year thanks to marching band though. He also has a cross-country meet tomorrow morning, so I suspect there will be no partying after the game tonight.
We’re going to our first university football game in ages, and it’ll be Greyson’s first. Definitely getting me into the autumn spirit.
Fall and football – there is nothing like it! Have fun at the game!
