I used to do this post and got away from it for whatever reason. This makes me sad because we should always find ways to celebrate the little things in life. Also, what better day on which to do this than Fridays? So, here are the things that make this a Fabulous Friday for me this week.
- Empty Calendars – It has been a rough week. A chest cold had me in bed all day on Monday. By Thursday, it was a case of food poisoning that kept me in bed. This is one of the rare weekends where we have nothing to do – no dance, no cross-country, no parties. Well, Jim is running another half-marathon on Sunday, and Connor will be going to a marching band event, but I am not counting those. I do not have to be there for them. This may very well be the last weekend of the year where this occurs (I am too afraid to confirm this), so I plan to make use of this anomaly by not doing a damn thing. Hallelujah.
What makes this a Fabulous Friday for you?

Ok, found the cause of your being in bed for 3 days…UGH. Food poisoning…how awful.
Our weekends are quiet for now, wrestling season begins in November and then the weekends are filled with stinky gym events that I wouldn’t miss for the world…the last year of HS wrestling…can’t believe it.
I’m going to try to join you in Fabulous Friday…..watch out!
Please join me for Fabulous Friday! I may just have to add a link-up if other people start doing something similar.
I know so many people who have children who are seniors this year. Either they are the very first child or the last one to do so. I just keep taking notes for next year!
First a hacking cough and then the food poisoning. It was not pretty. I did not really feel human again until this morning even though I was up and about all weekend long. My stomach is still sensitive though and quick to ache. I have no idea when that is going to go away, but at least I am able to think clearly again. Monday I slept because of the cold. Thursday I slept as much as I could because of the pain. Awful stuff.
I hope you’re feeling MUCH better!
Thanks, Andi!
Rough week – I sure hope you’re feeling better and enjoying a relaxing day of reading and doing nothing, because you deserve it!!
Thanks, Brandie!
That’s great you get some down time! I love empty calendars too…especially since they seem to be so few and far between these days!
No kidding. The next month is absolutely insane. I wish there was a better balance.
Sick and then food poisoning? Major suckage. I hope you are feeling better now.
A weekend with nothing to do sounds wonderful. Tonight, the hub and teen are going to a Dodger game with my son’s GF and dad. The Tween and I are hitting Whole Foods for dinner. LOL! We love eating at Whole Foods but the other half of the fam does not so as soon as I get off work, we are running to Whole Foods for some gluten free brick oven pizza and salad and then hitting the bookstore, sipping something good. Saturday, I have to start painting her room. I haven’t done it yet!
I am feeling better. Thanks! It ended up being a busy weekend, although I put a hold on painting. The rooms are small enough, and the weeknight activities light enough we should be able to knock out a lot of it during the evenings. Fingers crossed anyway.
Yay for doing nothing, especially since you almost never get to do it! I hope you get lots of relaxing in and that this tummy bug takes a hike soon. Will you be participating the Dog Days of Summer Readathon? Seems conducive to nothing-doing. 🙂
I probably will not participate. The house is filthy, and I have some other chores to finish around the house. However, I will be reading as much as possible because why not?
You still could have, and still can, participate. It’s no stress, no rules. Of course, that also means you don’t have to say that you’re “in” either. 🙂 Hope you’re continuing to have a good weekend.
Thanks, Bryan!
