Hosted by Sheila from Book Journey, this is a weekly event to share what we’ve read in the past week and what we hope to read, plus whatever else comes to mind. To learn more about each book, just click on the book cover!
FINISHED SINCE THE LAST UPDATE:
This were very different books in their own way but still enjoyable. I’m not certain I have wrapped my head around them just yet.
CURRENT LISTEN:
I might finish this some day.
UP NEXT:
I’ve been alternating book roulette with review copies. It’s been fun and slightly exciting to finally get to some books that have been languishing on my shelves for years.
So, what are you reading?

I’m interested to hear what you thought of the Hester Young novel? Is it really good or just so-so? Does it turn into a thriller? thanks
I loved it. I read it in a single workday. It does not turn into a thriller. I still need to wrap my head around my feelings about it, but it satisfied the romantic in me – something that has not happened in quite some time.
I’ve been doing book roulette, too, but I need to get better at playing with my own shelves! I keep going with random library titles instead of pulling from my own library – never clear things out that way.
That is why I don’t go to the library. The deadlines would push my own books to the side yet again.
Is the Stacy Ballis a purchase from our City Winery outing? ?
No. I got this at a trade show back in 2010. I didn’t buy any of Stacey’s books last year.
Isn’t it the best to get to things you’ve been meaning to read forever?! I just started an audio book of The Old Man and the Sea last night, and, in addition to feeling the joy of falling asleep while being read to, I’m so happy to finally cross this classic off the list.
Hope you enjoy that cotton candy fluff!
I just like doing it because it means making more room on my shelves for newer books that are languishing elsewhere. And yes, it feels so good to get an older book off of my list.
Ooh, what did you think of The Gates of Evangeline?? I got that one from Netgally, but I haven’t had time to read it (of course).
I thought it was okay. I totally called where the story was going way too early. It wasn’t necessarily as spooky as I wanted it to be either. It was good but not great.
Oh I’m curious about the Stacy Ballis, I just read her newest and it was cute. She’s local to me so I want to love her books.
I’m trying to get into the Uninvited. I expected to love it more than I have. I am sad that I have issues with it
She’s fairly local to me too; this is actually the first of her novels I’ve read. I got this at my very first trade show as a blogger and that was in 2010. It has just taken me that long to get around to reading it. She’s not necessarily my favorite genre, but it fits the bill right now for what I need.
I have heard that about The Uninvited from others. That is so disappointing!
