Happy Sunday! It is almost 4 PM, and I may still be in my pajamas. All I can say is thank goodness for days off! Holly and I have been busy with recital season. Monday and Tuesday were dress rehearsals for the variety show. Wednesday was the first recital, while we had two recitals on Saturday. The parents got together and performed a flash mob at the Saturday evening show, so we had rehearsals for that on Thursday. On Friday, my mother-in-law came to visit for the next two weeks. See why I am still in my pajamas and thankful for days off?
Next week is more of the same. Holly’s ballet recitals are Friday night and Saturday night, so she has four evenings of rehearsals this week. I will be working behind the scenes as part of the tech crew, so I will be right with her this week. I’m looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time. It makes for very long days, but it is so much fun to see them performing.
Work is going really well. It’s amazing how different it is to actually enjoy going to work every morning. It changes your whole outlook of the day.
The kids are officially done with school as of Wednesday. This does not mean they are on summer vacation though. In addition to dress rehearsals, Connor has marching band practice for the next few weeks. Connor also has his first orthodontics appointment to evaluate whether he needs braces or not. Being busy is how we like it, I guess!
I’m exhausted. Holly and I didn’t get back from the recital until midnight. Between showers and putting flowers in vases, I don’t think either of us was in bed before 1 AM, and I didn’t fall asleep until after 2 AM. It’s been a long time since I’ve done those types of hours. I think it may be nap time.
Have a great Sunday afternoon and a wonderful week!

So busy! GOOD for you. and I’m glad it’s you and not me. 😀 I thought I saw you posted a Misery review? or was I mistaken? Anyway, I am hosting my parents for a quick visit and we have such hot weather, no one wants to do anything. Thankfully, they are readers.
Not yet. I have it drafted and scheduled. I can’t wait to watch the movie now!
I wish my extended family liked to read. They prefer to be busy or watch sports on TV. I hope the weather cooperates and you are able to get outside to do something with your parents soon!
Busy, busy! We just got back from the orthodontist where the girl got braces. So 2 more years of that.
I’m glad you are liking the job. That’s great! You must be relieved.
Ah. Connor went for his ortho consultation yesterday. He will be getting them later this summer too.
I am very relieved. It’s been great!
I so know what you mean when you say your dread it and look forward to it. Production week is brutal. I love the action backstage though. I am not a head of a committee this time. I said no which means I am not working every show. Usually I do because The Teen is usually in every show but since he is not doing it this time, The Girl is only in three shows (split cast) so I am just going to work the shows she’s in. I feel like it’s a doable week for me whereas normally, I am a crumbling heap of emotions and frustration at this point.
Yep. This is the first year I’m working backstage. Last week was bad enough when I was the general go-fer and ended up running the girls during the last performance (I missed all of Holly’s dances, which pissed me off to no end). After one day of tech rehearsal, I’m already a stress monkey with all of the complaining and frustrations and long hours. Five more days to go and then a ten-hour drive to Branson, MO for a week-long national dance competition.
So any time for reading during the day? And if so, what did you read/are you reading? 🙂
Bwahahahaha! You are joking, right?
I hope you got a nap in yesterday after all of that!! I don’t know how you do it, being so busy – I don’t think I could! Although I say that now, and it could change if and when my daughter starts getting into new hobbies as she grows older. You do what you have to do for the kiddos.
I’m so glad to hear how much you’re enjoying the new job. I’m sure it’s such a relief to you!
I did get a much-needed nap and still managed to go to bed earlier than normal. It was bliss. I just love taking naps. They make me feel so much better.
The new job is a relief. I couldn’t be happier, which makes this time of year so much easier.
Glad to hear the new job is going so well! Sure makes those long days easier. Glad you had today to recover!
Thanks, Lisa! Yes, wanting to go to work is a huge boost when Holly and I get home so late at night. I can’t imagine trying to do this if I was at my previous place of work.
