Hosted by Sheila from Book Journey, this is a weekly event to share what we’ve read in the past week and what we hope to read, plus whatever else comes to mind.

This DNF is no fault of the book, or at least I think so. I admittedly did not get very far into it to determine the strength of the writing or the characters. I was pretty much turned off from the second line with its mention of a certain deity. Novels with a strong Christian element makes me squirrelly, and had I know that this one had a VERY strong Christian element, I would have stayed away from it completely. So, this might be an excellent book, or it might not be one. I only made it to page five before I could not handle it anymore.

What are you reading?

thanks for the warning about the Faber book. I didn’t realize that’s what’s in it.
You are welcome. It was such a disappointment for me. Then again, highly anticipated books that turn out to be about something other than what I thought usually are.
I think I have said twice on my blog, how I am about to start The Book of Strange New Things and that makes TWICE that I have lied about it. I seriously have been meaning to start it but then I forgot about my book club book so I had to put it off. I am sorry to hear it was a DNF for you though. That worries me a tiny bit.
You might have a better time with this one than I did. Like I said, I’m really sensitive about books that mention religion and fervent belief. I respect others’ beliefs. I just don’t want to read about it.
Whoo hoo! Right after this response I was approved for W&W on NetGalley. I can finish my fix!
Yay!!! I hope to dive into it this weekend. I can’t wait!
I am so jealous of Waistcoats and Weaponry! I just read the first two books last week-and while I’m not sure steampunk is my quite thing, I was entertained and I want to know what is next for Sophronia!
I’m balancing fiction and non with I’ll Give you The Sun and the Birth of the Pill. Two intense books!
I love Gail Carriger. Steampunk is an acquired taste, but I thoroughly enjoy her satire more than anything.
I have been reading a lot of nonfiction lately too. It is nice to shake things up every once in a while!
