Is the California novel any good? It’s gotten some hype. thanks
I wasn’t a fan. I know a few others who felt the same way, and yet others who loved it. I feel that it is one of those books which will never live up to the pre-release buzz it generated.
Great books coming up. I also have Evergreen, The Appetites of Girls and Big Little Lies. I took on way too many June/July books. Most days I feel insane.
I did the exact same thing. My September list of books is even larger than my July list, and I didn’t think that was possible. I’m just trying to take one book at time regardless of the day on the calendar. It keeps me from going completely insane.
The book of Life is supposed to be good, and been hearing good things about The Young World too. You’d think I’d be tired of dystopians by now- but no, not if they’re good. 🙂 Will keep an eye out for your revie…
Dystopians are getting old. The Young World wasn’t bad, but it definitely felt redundant at times.
Thanks for the recommendation on the Deborah Harkness – good to know you liked it that much! I remember trying it awhile back but I had a lot in my TBR pile (not unusual) and it just didn’t grab me. Going to give it another shot!
It isn’t for everyone. I would NEVER suggest my BFF read the series. She detest fantasy/supernatural/paranormal anything. Me? I can’t get enough of it!
I will probably read The Book of Life since I read the first two in The All Souls Trilogy. Have a great week.
Did you enjoy the first two books in the series? They were among some of my favorite reads last year.
Yes, I really enjoyed the first two books, but was disappointed that there was such a long time between the second and third book.
You must not read the Harry Dresden series or even the Outlander series. There are YEARS between those books. I’ve found that adult series do spread their books out more than YA series. I don’t mind. Typically, it makes for a better book/series.
Yes – I don’t read too many series. My niece just recommended the Outlanders to me. I will investigate.
I am a sucker for covers! I like The Majors Daughter
I think all of the covers on my upcoming books are gorgeous. I can’t wait to read them!
Happy Monday! Yay for Big Little Lies – can’t wait to hear what you think! I have yet to start reading the Harkness series – do you like them? I have them on my list and have just never made time for it.
I’m curious what you thought of The Butcher. I really enjoyed another book by that author, but Butcher fell short for me. Maybe it was my mood at the time.
Happy reading this week!!
I adore the Harkness series. I own each book in two different versions, have listened to each multiple times, and have been savoring the anticipation for the last one. I highly recommend the series.
The Butcher wasn’t great. I was fairly brutal in my review. It was flat and predictable. I wasn’t impressed.
Well, I’m so glad I have the entire series to read! I definitely want to read it.
Those were my thoughts exactly!! I’m glad I wasn’t the only one. Can’t wait to see your review.
Yay! I’ll admit that I’ve been dragging my feet on the final book. I don’t want the series to end!!
