Good morning! The sun is shining. The birds are gorging themselves. The sky was blue. The clouds are rolling in as I type, which means we will probably get another snow shower or two. This seems to be the norm now that we are no longer experiencing that arctic cold. Oh well. ‘Tis the season!
Connor made it through his first ever finals week thinking that they were no big deal and were actually rather easy. On the one hand, I’m glad he feels that way. On the other hand, I believe he is in for a rude awakening as he continues onward with high school. Monday starts a new semester and a fresh start, something we all need every so often. His grades were not quite up to our expectations, so he has some work to do going forward.
Jim is back from his trip to California. While there, he experienced his first ever earthquake tremor and saw those wildfires around LA. It has only taken a year for him to see some of the downsides of SoCal. Wisconsin does not look so terribly bad now, to my way of thinking.
Cold season definitely hit the house this week as Connor, then Holly, and then I succumbed. I’ll take a cold over the flu, which is apparently rampaging through the state right now. We are all on the mend, thank goodness, and hope that this is the last illness we see for a while.

Not much else is on the docket this week. Jim has another business trip planned, but to Savannah. I’m still staying busy with year-end close, and the kids have the regular activities and chores to keep them busy. In essence, it is a typical week in the Shannon family.

Sometimes a ‘normal’ week is the best week. 🙂
I wholeheartedly agree. Now, if only I can shake this cold thing.
So far we’ve skipped influenza and the colds, but we did have a nasty case of stomach virus right before Christmas. Hoping that’s it for us this winter! Hope you guys are all feeling better soon.
I can’t decide if I would rather have a stomach virus or the flu. Intestinal issues of any type are so much worse than aches and pains, IMO. I hope you gusy stay healthy this winter!
We are still putting up with the crazy weather here in Minnesota. It was in the 30s today – and tonight it will be 20 below again.
I saw we are headed for the same thing. Up, down, up, down. Snow, snow, snow. At least it makes life interesting. Sort of.
Stay warm!
Yeah, I have a bad case of allergy hell right now. Just thankful it isn’t the flu. All parts crossed it doesn’t become the flu. :-/
Eek. No allergies here. At least not for another few months. But I am working on day three of a low-grade fever. Yes, I am working from home today, but it is annoying nonetheless. I don’t feel poorly, for the most part.
I hope your allergies dissipate soon!
Your husband seems to be lucky in his warm business travel destinations while it is so cold in Wisconsin!
No kidding. I have to have a little conversation with him about this, I think.
So he was here for the quake? Let him know, that was a baby one. I didn’t even feel it or the two that followed it.
LOL! He was there for the quake. He said the first one woke him up but he wasn’t certain why he woke up at the time. He never mentioned anything about the other two.
