I honestly don’t know. I’m going to let my next read be purely spontaneous and whatever I feel like reading when I finish my current read.
What are you reading?

I’m a bit scared of Tampa, maybe b/c of a few other reviews on the subject matter etc. Sounds explicit for sure. I enjoyed the Burgess Boys and am now reading a novel called The Curiosity by a debut author which seems enjoyable, but I have a list over at http://www.thecuecard.com/ that I’m interested in reading for August – so I better hurry up. cheers.
If the subject matter makes you squeamish before you start reading it, then it is probably a book you might want to avoid. I personally think it is one of the best books out there today, but I tend not to get upset at that sort of thing.
The Burgess Boys is okay. It isn’t the most compelling audiobook. The Curiosity is an excellent book; I know you are going to enjoy that one!
I am intrigued by Tampa, maybe I’m just interested because of the hype? It takes a lot to shock me so I’ll give it a go.
It takes a lot to shock me too. I really enjoyed Tampa and thought it was a brilliant satire. The subject didn’t bother me as much as it did others either. I think you will enjoy it!
Cool, thanks. Buzz is only starting here in Ireland, so it’s nice to hear some opinions that DON’T focus on the hype!
I try not focus on the hype. Enjoy!
The Burgess Boys is on my reading list too – how are you liking it so far? I’m feeling the spontaneous reading mood too! Must be the warm weather.
It’s a little slow. I’m struggling to get into it but I can see the potential. I’m still not 100 percent certain where the story is going, but I’m less than 1/4 of the way into it. Hopefully, it picks up soon!
Looking forward to your thoughts on Tampa. Nutting is going to be part of the Omaha Lit Fest this fall and I’m trying to decide how many of the participating author’s books I can get to between now and then.
I loved Tampa. I don’t know what it says about me, but I thought it was brilliant. The subject matter didn’t bother me as much as it did others, but I also feel a bit sorry for the main character. I made my husband read it right after I finished, and he flew through it in two days as well – a first for him. He felt the same way and said it was difficult for him to feel sorry for the boys because he can imagine how they felt, having been a 14-year-old boy at one point in time. It was an interesting point of view and makes me appreciate the story that much more. I HIGHLY recommend it!
I’m in a “need something spontaneous” mood after two heavy books — Owen Meany and Life After Life. I’m leaning toward brain candy as I enjoyed Anna and the French Kiss yesterday. Now I’m contemplating Lola and the Boy Next Door OR Austenland.
Exactly. I’m thinking a little Percy Jackson may be what is needed. Too many heavy books lately. I love them but need to cleanse my palate with at least one book. We’ll see.
Just wondering if Train 407 is a novel or non-fiction? Look intriguing to me. Enjoy your week of reading.
Train 407 is fiction but based on the author’s experiences. I did not enjoy it but others might.
Great reading last week!
I have an Elizabeth Strout novel sitting on my Nook but haven’t read it (or anything by her) yet. Hope you enjoy The Burgess Boys!
Thanks! This is my first Strout novel as well. I’ve heard good things, so I can only hope it is good!
