About an hour into the audiobook, something big happens, and it threw me for a loop. After talking with some friends, I realized that I missed every clue to this big event and then some. I was listening to it without any distractions too. Then, the third narrator started speaking, and she has one of the worst smoker’s voices I have ever heard. I could not listen to that voice for longer than fifteen minutes anyway, so I quickly realized that this is one book I am better off experiencing in print. I will get back to it though. That first hour, what I understood of it, was magical.

What are you reading?

It's a beautiful book – deceptively simple but devastatingly effective.
I will have to go look up Sea Creatures. The simple cover and title entices me for some reason. 🙂 Happy Reading!
Here is my Monday .
Thanks, Elizabeth! Have a good one!
Nice lineup and good week for you. I am looking forward to reading The Husband's Secret.
ENJOY your week.

My It's Monday, What Are You Reading
Thanks, Kerri! The first hour really is beautiful and meant to be savored in a way you just cannot do via audio. Enjoy!
LOL! You might have been, but that's okay. I had it on my list from last week and just never got around to reading it!
I just got the new Hosseini and can not wait to sit down and read- hope you have better luck with print! Here is my Monday post- http://turnthepagereviews.com

Ohhh I'm going to be reading Loteria soon, too! (I just had deja vu… did I already tell you that? LOL)
I know what you mean about mouth noises, but that really is few and far between on the audios I've experienced. That wasn't the case with this particular audio either. I just was missing too much because I was struggling with the thick accents and then the one narrator sounded too much like a robot.
Have a good one!
I can't wait to get to either book. I was hoping to read them in time for the BR cutoff, but that is not to be. Oh well!
I think that one of the reasons I've never listened to an audiobook is because I cannot tolerate mouth noises. Does that sound weird? It's a real thing, I promise! 😉
I hope you you love your upcoming reads Michelle, have a great week!
There are some books that are better in print than in audio. The cover of The Husband's Secret is so nice to look at. Loteria is on my reading list for this week too. Have a good week.
I'm liking it more and more as I get further into the book. I'm about halfway through it now with no idea where it is going or how it is going to end. Very intriguing.
Sea Creatures sounds intriguing. Went over and checked it out on Goodreads.
I don't normally have problems with audiobooks, so I'm not certain if the fault lies with me or with the book itself. There are certain genres which I think work better for audio than others. Perhaps this is just one of them. I am really enjoying ETIQUETTE & ESPIONAGE, but then again, I do love Gail Carriger.
Have a great week!
I enjoyed reading Etiquette & Espionage. I have trouble with audio books because I lose focus even when I think I am listening. I am much better off with print books. Come see my Monday Report here,. Happy reading!
