Welcome back, meine Liebchens! How is 2012 treating you so far?
It has been an interesting week here in southern Ohio. The weather has been insane, as it has been across the country. We started out the week with frigid temperatures and finished up the week in the upper fifties. On the one hand, I don’t want to complain about not having to wear a coat in January. On the other hand, it is winter, and I happen to like winter. If I wanted warm winters, I would move south.
Then there is work. The discrepancy in workloads among my coworkers is absolutely sickening. We have people so bored that they are reading at their desks, and we have others, like me, who are so busy that we cannot possibly finish everything. The anticipation of changes has everyone on tenterhooks, but because we have been waiting for what seems like forever, patience is also running thin. It makes for a very tense atmosphere. I have managed to keep to my word about working “normal” hours. I actually went out for lunch this week as well, something that has not happened in recent memory. Next week will be the first full week of work and will be the next big test.
The kids started back to school on Wednesday, and it was none too soon for everyone. Both are extremely happy to be back among their friends and come home excited and eager to complete their work. Granted, it has only been one week. I am not naive enough to think that this will last throughout the rest of the year, but it has been fun to watch. Anyone want to take bets on when the first assignment is late or the first struggle to complete their homework will happen?
Why did you do this to me? |
Tallulah was spayed on Friday. The poor thing struggled Friday night, completely zoned out and incapable of eating or drinking anything. We were definitely a little worried, as she was extremely emaciated. Thankfully by Saturday afternoon, after taking some pain medication, she was back to her goofy self, albeit a bit more subdued than usual. The relief among everyone was palpable. She’ll be renewing her torture of her older sister in no time!
The other big news is that Jim’s twin brother is coming in to town this afternoon. In the seven years we have lived here, he has never visited us, so this is a fairly big deal even if it is family. It is a work trip, and where he will be is too far to visit every night, so we plan to make the most of it. In fact, I need to figure out my dinner plans. I guess the real world is calling.
Have a wonderful, relaxing Sunday! Happy reading!

The kids are still enjoying school. Isn't that weird? The visit went well; we even convinced him to come back on Monday and get out of the hotel for a night. Family. What can you do?
Too bad he's never visited! Family eh? heh. I hope the visit went well, and that the puppy recovered well. Also, I hope that somehow the kids are still enjoying school
I definitely will. She takes as many scratches as possible!
Yea for taking lunch! You have got to get away from your desk every now and then. Poor puppy! Give her some scratches from me.
Thanks, Carrie! Things are bound to get better soon, right? I mean, they can't stay this bad forever. At least, that is the theory.
I hope you have a great time visiting with your brother-in-law! And work…. I'm sorry things are still so rough. Will keep my fingers crossed that things ease up soon. 🙂
Haha! The reading part comes tomorrow. I said I was making changes. 😉
I hate work and school too. No more creatures being spayed, I promise! Tallulah should be the last pup we have for a LONG time!
We had another male pup who was neutered. Definitely not as invasive or traumatic. By this evening, you can't even tell that she was in surgery two days ago!
Awful just about covers the work environment. I really hope it gets better soon.
I'm sure your kitty will be fine. Today there were absolutely no problems.
I agree with you. As much as I would love to read at work, I just couldn't do it. There is something so wrong IMO about sitting at work with nothing to do.
So wait a minute, what are you reading? That's what I want to know…all this personal stuff is fine and dandy 😉 but where's the reading stuff?
As for your personal stuff, I hate winter, work, school and, needless to say, hearing about creatures being spayed. But seriously hope Tallulah is doing better and that things work out for you on the workfront.

I used to work in an office that seemed a lot like yours. It was awful.
And my little Romeo just got neutered but I heard it isn't as intensive as being spayed. Glad to hear you've seen some goofiness reemerging.
My kitty has to get spayed soon and it always freaks me out a bit…
That's crazy about your work. They should even things out a bit. Frankly, if I was one of the people with the luxury of reading all the time I would be asking for work to do…
Enjoy your time with the family!
