Greetings from Dearborn, Michigan and the 2011 Great Lakes Independent Booksellers Association (GLiBA) Trade Show! Jen and I have been busy chatting with authors, booksellers, and publishers about the latest and greatest in the world of books. Always a fabulous time, I’ll have a full write-up and lots of goodies to show you when I return.
The rest of the week rather palls in comparison to the glut of book talk and books I’ve been experiencing. Everything remained status quo as the various sports seasons wind down. I believe we have one more week of cross-country, thanks to a gaffe at yesterday’s event wherein the junior high boys failed to follow the 2-mile path and chose the high school course instead, and one more week of cheerleading as well. It has been a fun fall season, and I am rather sad to see it all end.
Next Saturday is Dewey’s Fall 24-hour Readathon. I have not officially committed to it yet, but I know that I will be reading for some unspecified time during those 24 hours. Since the rest of the family has turned into such avid readers lately, I would love to have the entire family commit to a certain length of time. I just need to work on them to agree to my challenge.
Before I head back out to the seminars this morning, did you see my reviews for this week? I actually did not finish a book. To check that out that miraculous event, and everything else, please click on the links below.
- The Ballad of Tom Dooley by Sharyn McCrumb
- Sanctus by Simon Toyne
- The Legacy by Katherine Webb
- Plugged by Eoin Colfer (Audiobook)
- The Vaults by Toby Ball (Audiobook) (DNF)

No problem! I hope you were able to participate!
Thanks!
The kids only read for a portion of the day, but I still got them to participate. Any time we can read as a family is a good time!
The whole family reading for say 3 hours may be doable. Good luck and have a great week.
I actually have off this Saturday from work so might have to join. Thanks for reminding about the readathon.
My recent post Welcome to my first Sunday Salon…well, in my new digs anyway
Reading as a family would be fun. I hope that works out!
My recent post Week in Review (37) and Short Story Sunday – Week 6
I am excited for the readathon too! There's a chance that my family may join in for a short amount of time but I have a feeling I'll be on my own, for the most part!
