Did everyone survive Book Blogger Appreciation Week? While “Inside Michelle’s Brain” did not win for Best Feature or Series of Posts, Armchair BEA did as the Best Blogging Event for 2011! A huge thank you to everyone who voted and to my fellow co-creators and this year’s organizers for a job well done. It was an amazing week both as a founder and as a participant, and I remain proud to be associated with it. Thank you all again!
Last week, I thought long and hard about posting my thoughts/feelings on the events of September 11, 2001. I did not want to bombard people with yet another post, but I felt that the day needed to be recognized as something other than just another Sunday. I opted for something very simple because I realized that was all I could handle. Watching the memorial services on Sunday and the news coverage in the days leading up to the anniversary was almost more than I could bear. I was blown away by how raw that day still is to me. I tear up at the images and was a blubbering mess during the moments of silence during the memorial services. The terror, uncertainty, shock, and fear I experienced that day ten years ago remain just as strong for me today. It definitely will be a day which I will never be able to forget.
I am going to keep this short this week, as the three-day quarterly sales meeting and late nights reading BBAW goodness felled me quite hard on Thursday. What started as exhaustion, which is typical for the sales meetings, turned into a sore throat and congestion on Friday, and by Saturday morning, I felt like I had wrestled with a semi-truck and lost. Fevers, joint and muscle pain, congestion, exhaustion, sore throat, and general malaise kept me in bed yesterday. I don’t have any plan to move much farther than the couch today. With seven reviews to write, and bills to pay, I hope I can keep it together long enough to cross a few things off my to-do list!
Have a great remainder of the weekend, everyone. Happy reading!
Thanks, Michelle – on both accounts! It was a thrilling win, and it definitely helped me feel a bit better. I'm not certain what I had last week, but it is nice not to feel like I had wrestled with a semi and lost. LOL!
Thanks! I am feeling better. The week was so-so, but you can't win them all!
First of all, I hope you're feeling better. I had some kind of funk last weekend too, but I don't think I was as bad off as you were.
I was thrilled that Armchair BEA won! Congrats! I certainly voted for it. I still think your feature should have won. 😉

Hope you are feeling better and this week is going smoothly for you 🙂
My recent post What's up Wednesday?
Too much goodness, yes. It was also my work week last week. Sitting in a windowless conference room for 10 hours at a time for three days straight tends to weaken the immune system. My co-workers are betting it was sheer exhaustion, so who knows. I do know it will be early to bed for me this week!
Oh, Michelle, I hope you feel better soon!!! I believe I may have succumbed to BBAW related illness as I woke up today feeling quite ill. Too much goodness, perhaps?

We did have this discussion on Twitter. In the end, it was my reactions to the memorial services that sealed the deal for me. I figured that if I was as upset as I was, other people would be struggling as well. There was no need to continue to bombard people with coverage. I like the idea of the self-imposed radio silence. It is a tribute in and of itself.
I feel your pain on visiting new bloggers. BBAW is so dangerous to my feed reader! I am hoping to figure out how to manage all of the excellent blogs myself. If you come up with a plan, please let me know!
Such events can become a bit overwhelming after a few days, can't they? There is so much blogging goodness that it can be so easy to overdo it. I'm glad you were able to find more great new-to-you blogs. Even one or two days of participating is enough to feel the bloggy love!
Feel better soon. 🙂

First, sorry to hear about you not feeling well. Hope you can rest today in between things.
Second, I know what you mean about posting on 9/11. I think we had this discussion somewhat last week on Twitter. I finally just opted for not posting at all, and I kept off Facebook and Twitter all day as a kind of self-imposed radio silence…not only for me, but for the nearly 3,000 who died.
My recent post I just want to thank Michelle of That’s What She Read
Sorry you are sick. I hope you feel better soon! Congrats on your win, though!
Yesterday I decided to visit all the new-to-me bloggers that have commented on my blog lately… It took a lot more time than I thought! I have no idea how I am going to keep up with so many people!
I kind of punked out on the latter half of BBAW. I ran out of steam after a couple of days of doing nothing but going to work and then coming home to sit at my computer all night commenting away. Not that I didn't enjoy it at the time. Even in two days of fervent commenting I came away having found more great new-to-me than I can ever hope to follow!
Sorry to hear you're under the weather, hope you're feeling better soon!
