It may be just me but so far, 2011 has been an absolutely amazing year for fiction. Already this year, I’ve had the pleasure of reading the following 2011 novels:
- Skipping a Beat by Sarah Pekkanen
- Ten Miles Past Normal by Frances O’Rourk Dowell
- The Other Life by Ellen Meister
- The Kitchen Daughter by Jael McHenry
- Stay by Deb Caletti
- Where She Went by Gayle Forman
- Unfamiliar Fishes by Sarah Vowell
- Divergent by Veronica Roth
- Doc by Mary Doria Russell
- The Moment by Douglas Kennedy
- Faith by Jennifer Haigh
- The Ninth Wife by Amy Stolls
- The First Husband by Laura Dave
- Bossypants by Tina Fey
- Don’t Breathe a Word by Jennifer McMahon
And that is just what I’ve managed to finish to date! I do not spend a lot of time looking at catalogs, so I am not 100 percent certain what is coming in the next six months. I do know that if they are anything like what has been released so far, they are going to be amazing!

Yes, they were! I cannot wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for YA books!
Yes. Any time you have a well-written novel that does a wonderful job with a sensitive topic like abusive relationships, people will recognize it and make sure that others read it as well. Definitely worth reading and discussing with others.
You are quite welcome! DIVERGENT is the one I've been raving about the most. SO amazingly good!
Thanks, Melissa! Yes, STAY is quite provocative. I hope you enjoy it when you do get a chance to read it!
we have some of the same best for best of 2k11, Where she went and Divergent was epic!
Stay is showing up on all kinds of list, definitely want to read that one.
I have not read any of those, although there are a few I hope to read soon. Faith is on my TBR list, and I'll be posting a review next week. Divergent is probably the one I most want to read from this list.
Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
My recent post Review- Evil at Heart
I loved Divergent as you saw from my list. I have had Stay on my reading list for a while. I think I definitely need to read that one. Thanks for dropping by! You have some really great picks!
I know! I never read this many right after they are published. I'm enjoying it though because it means I can champion a book to others. All three that you mentioned were fantastic.
You will truly enjoy it! Thanks for visiting!
Wow! You have read a lot of 2011 titles. The are many on that list that I wan to read. The Kitchen Daughter, Doc, and Divergent especially!
Thank you for your list-I am getting The Kitchen Daughter from the library.
Yes, you must read them soon!! Both will get you thinking.
It truly is worth it. I was in tears I was laughing so hard, and I was listening to it while at work. My co-workers thought I had lost my mind, but I didn't care.
I really liked how STAY showed a more accurate picture of how terrifyingly easy it is to get into an abusive relationship and how difficult it is to get out of one. We need more books that talk about this issue.
Yes, you do! You won't regret it!
Thanks, Amy! FAITH really got me thinking, which I love in any book. There are so many good books out there right now!
SKIPPING A BEAT was great, wasn't it? It had me crying on the beach while I was surrounded by girlfriends who were watching to see if I would break down!
Rebecca – It was better than IF I STAY – I kid you not. It was amazing.
DIVERGENT was awesome. I also just finished BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP by S. J. Watson that I feel needs to be added to the list as well. Another phenomenal read!
Hi Sidne! Happy Armchair BEA!
Both were wonderful. I also finished S. J. Watson's BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP today. That one had my heart racing and left me breathless with the way it ended. Another fantastic read if you can get your hands on it.
Bossypants is on everyone's list today! I love it :o)

I totally agree; there have been so many stunning books that have come out this year! Stay is a great example of this. It is one of my favorites this year, too! 🙂
That's it. I need to read The Ninth Wife now! Everyone says how good it is, and i just need to grab it already!
Hi! You have some great books on your 2011 favorites. I haven't read most of them except for Faith which was fantastic, but I have read great revies of several.
Happy continued reading!
I hope you have a great rest of BEA!
Oh, I so can't wait to read Where She Went! 😀 Sounds promising that it got on your top list for '11!
