Thoughts on books, family, and life in one impressive package.

Happy New Year!!

Don’t you love how one day means a fresh start, an unmarked calendar filled with potential and hope? It is definitely the time for new beginnings. What are my new beginnings? I announced a few weeks ago that I would be joining Weight Watchers’ online program in a concerted effort to stay healthy and lose weight. Combining it with my ongoing running program, I would love to be near my goal weight by my birthday. 30 pounds in six months should be reasonable, right?

As for blogging, I am going to spend 2011 focusing on reading what I want to read. I am going to limit my ARC selection, as much as possible. I am also going to curtail the reading challenges. They were fun but rather distracting. I will be participating in my favorite reading challenges, Carl’s RIP Challenge in September, and Beth Fish Read’s What’s in a Name 4 Challenge. This was an absolute blast last year, as it allowed me to read what I wanted while checking to see if it fit into one of the chosen categories. This year’s categories are as follows:

  1. A book with a number in the title
  2. A book with jewelry or a gem in the title
  3. A book with a size in the title
  4. A book with travel or movement in the title
  5. A book with evil in the title
  6. A book with a life stage in the title

I already have several books ear-marked for each of the categories and can’t wait to read them.

I will be participating in several TLC book tours in the pending months. The books sound awesome. I can’t wait to read them. I will also be celebrating my two-year bloggiversary in January, can you believe it? As for the rest of the year, who knows? The lack of definite plans is what makes the new year so exciting!
