Good morning! While the sun is shining brightly, it is a frigid degrees outside right now. If I can avoid going outside today, this is today’s goal. I am supposed to run today, but I just cannot stomach the idea of running in temps below 20 degrees. Instead, I do need to work from home today. Not fun but essential since I missed most of Friday as Connor came down with strep throat Thursday. The poor guy, he either has the world’s highest pain tolerance or just doesn’t care, as he ended up staying at school all day on Thursday and even wanted to go to school on Friday too. Since he was never acting all that ill, the fact that he is fighting with his sister again proves he is definitely on the mend.
The highlight this week was a notification from Google Alerts that let me know that I was blurbed on Gail Carriger’s website. She is the author behind the Parasol Protectorate series, Soulless, Changeless, and Blameless. I am so very excited because I truly do love this series and am honored that Ms. Carriger found my words worthy of promoting her books.
I kept busy reading and writing this week, posting reviews of Susan Fraser King’s Queen Hereafter, Cassandra Clare’s City of Ashes, and Jacob Ritari’s Taroko Gorge. I posited about the importance of fresh starts and posted an update on my Motivate Me series. Given the fact that I have finished four books already this year, I have plenty of material to write for the rest of the month. Stay tuned for reviews of Damage by Josephine Hart, The Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy, Jane of Lantern Hill by Lucy Maud Montgomery, and Original Sins: A Novel of Slavery and Freedom by Peg Kingman.
That being said, it’s time to start this day in earnest. I figure it is best to get that work done sooner rather than later so that I can enjoy the rest of the afternoon. I hope this Sunday finds you warm, healthy and surrounded by books!
Have a great day and happy reading!

Thanks, Amy! The fact that it is from one of my favorite series that I discovered last year makes it that much more exciting for me. From what it looks like, I missed the best weather of the week today, which means I'm going to have to suck it up and run in temperatures I just said I wasn't going to outside in. Oh well!
Congratulations! What a cool thing, to be blurbed on the author's site. I hope the temps improve a bit this week for your running!

This is my year of reading deliberately, so I am trying not to stress too much about how much I read and just enjoy what I'm reading. The lack of pressure is wonderful.
Sounds like you're off to a great start for the new year. Keep up the good work.
