Winter weather has officially arrived. With lows in the twenties this weekend, it was time to pull out the winter clothes and put away the summer ones. Coinciding with the end of daylight savings time, I can’t say that I am disappointed. I love, love, love snuggling up with blankets by the fire. Sweaters, bulky sweatshirts – bring it on. I am definitely a nester, and this is my favorite time of year.
It also means the end of soccer and football for the kids. We officially get back our weeknights and weekends. It was a long season at times, but it is always a pleasure watching the kids get excited and improve in their respective sports. I speak for everyone when I say it will be wonderful to catch our breath and relax a bit.
To all those who wished Jim a happy birthday, he sends his many thanks. We ended up having a small, low-key gathering of our closest friends, which are the best celebrations to have. This week, I also celebrated the end of the RIP challenge as well as the Flashback challenge. Connor explored another Artemis Fowl book, while I gushed over the third Outlander novel, Voyager. My highlight this week was finally sharing my thoughts on Suzanne Collins’ Mockingjay.
This week, I hope to finally get caught up with certain reviews. I will also be revisiting Inside Michelle’s Brain and unveiling another unique feature. Reviews themselves might be a bit scarce throughout the rest of the month as I scramble to read through the INSPY selections before the due date (I’m a judge for the Speculative Fiction category). Even with all the extra free time, it will not be a boring month!
I hope everyone had a wonderful and peaceful Sunday. Have a great week and happy reading!
