Created by Danielle at There’s a Book, A Bit of Me(me) is all about getting to know other bloggers outside of books. It is a safe way to put yourself out there, one question at a time. This week’s question is a fun one.
Next Week’s Question: What is your favorite word and why?
Okay, I never said Danielle’s questions were easy! LOL! I have to say that my favorite word is one I do not use because I am always afraid I am going to mispronounce it. Macabre. Isn’t that a great word? Defined as “gruesome, ghastly, grim”, I don’t love it because of its definition. I love it because of the way it sounds. It immediately evokes a sense of darkness. It sounds exactly like its definition, and I love it.
So, why do I like such a dark word that suggests death and everything associated with it? I’m not certain. Maybe it is my inner Goth girl clamoring for attention? As I mentioned, it is one of the few words that immediately draws a picture. I tend to gravitate towards the darker side of literature, hence my fascination with the vampire legend. I love Saint-Saens’ “Danse macabre”; it is one of my favorite pieces of classical music. I just think it is a cool word!
What about you? If you had to choose your favorite word, which one would you choose?

Thanks, Danielle! This was a tough one. The Graveyard Book is a perfect example of this woman. Thanks for hosting this!
Thanks! I suspect a lot of us like the "macabre".
Great choice. You are not alone, all things dark and "macabre" interest me too. Thanks for sharing.
My recent post Crazy Week
I think if you would have asked me this question in another month or so, I would select a different word. It depends on the mood, my current surroundings, what has been occurring in my life, and so forth.
Linger is another good one! Some words are just fun to say, like onomatopoeia. Others have special meaning. I find this particular question rather fascinating because it is so personal!
Definitely a great word! I can never pick one word because I'm always trying to learn new words. What ever is my latest new word is generally my favorite–for a day or so!

I thought about this question before. For now my favorite word is "linger". There's something about the way it rolls off the tongue that makes it my fave.
