It has been one heck of week in blogger world. Twitter has been abuzz with feed from New York City as bloggers from around the world shared their experiences at the BookExpo America. On Friday, we got to experience more tweeting goodness from those attending the first annual Book Blogger Convention, also in NYC.
In an effort to stave away jealousy, a brief Twitter conversation several weeks ago spawned Armchair BEA – BEA topics (and Book Blogger Con topics) discussed among bloggers from the comfort of your own home. No aching feet, no lines, no heavy bags to lug around, and so forth. We even had our own swag and free books, thanks to some awesome publishers and fellow bloggers! Thursday saw us generating our own tweeting fun through our first ever Armchair BEA Twitter Party. The tweets were fast and furious, and the excitement was so enthusiastic!
On behalf of all the organizers, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude at the enthusiasm and generosity of our participants. Considering we had literally two weeks to plan this event, we never thought we would end up with over 170 participants or take over the Twitter world as we did on Thursday evening. The content of every one’s posts was of the highest caliber. Everyone displayed a camaraderie and sense of community that we would be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. This week made me truly happy to be part of the book blogging community. Armchair BEA was a delight to organize and a blast to “attend”, and I cannot wait to do it again next year!

Sadly, I am still catching up on all these awesome posts!!! Someday I will finish and maybe make a dent in my Reader! Until then, it was a pleasure getting to know you, to work with you, and I look forward to continuing to follow you!! 🙂

Thanks! I imagine it was a poor substitute for the real thing, but everyone had a blast! I can't wait to see your pictures!
Looks like Armchair BEA was a rousing success! Still catching up on all of the posts I missed, but what I've read so far was great! Great idea!

You are very welcome, Lynne! We'll "see" you next year!
Yay for founders! I feel so privileged! 😉
Michelle, you are so right about the cameraderie and sense of community surrounding the Armchair BEA. So glad to be a part of it.
Thanks for everything you did!

I made a small change in the Armchair BEA Central blog this morning – the "Contact the Organizers" page is now titled "Contact the Founders." There may be more people helping to organize the next Armchair BEA, but there will always be one group that started it off :). I'm glad I had the chance to be part of that group with you, and here's to 2011!
You should have participated too! We're going to do it next year too. As long as there is BEA, there will be a need for Armchair BEA!
You're welcome! The participants made it an amazing event as well!
I kept seeing your Tweets about this and would love to have joined in if I hadn't been so busy. It looked like so much fun.
Thank you, Michelle, for all you did to make this such an amazing event!
You are very, very welcome! Armchair BEA made my week too!
Thank you Michelle and all the organizers for having set up this event! I can't even express fully well how thankful I am for this event! You guys made my week! 🙂
