Another Sunday, another day of rest – I really love Sundays, don’t you? I am going to take full advantage of this day of rest, as tomorrow starts the one week I dread out of the entire year. It is one that will see me doing nothing but sitting in meetings ten-plus hours each day for five straight days. It will see me trying to keep caught up on my regular work in addition to sitting at meetings, even though I do not have a work laptop that allows me to do work in any place other than my desk. It sees me trying to stay awake as I listen to people talking about projects that will never pertain to me at all just in case they slip in something that does pertain to me that requires me to take notes. Working lunches, working breakfasts, dragging myself home just in time to put the kids to bed and to reheat whatever Jim cooked for dinner. Hence the need to just sit and rest for the majority of the day today.
In anticipation of all of these wonderful meetings, I put in long hours this week trying to clear off my to-do list as much as possible. As a result, my reading this week was rather sporadic. I did manage to finish another ARC, One Amazing Thing by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. I also received The Postmistress in the mail. However, considering I am reading two self-help books plus my book club selection, I really feel the need to finish both books before I start another novel. I really want to start a novel, but I realized this week I am not good at spreading myself out so thin among various reading projects. Three books at one time is just TOO much!
With all these ARCs, I am torn when to post the review. Should I wait until closer to the release date? Should I post them as soon as I finish reading the book? What is the proper etiquette here? Anyone with more experience have any helpful hints?
I’ve got nothing else today. My brain must be on hiatus for the day, which should make it fairly interesting when I go to write reviews later today. I hope everyone enjoys their day of rest and has a fabulous week! I’ll see you on the flip side!
Happy reading!

Ceri – 11+ hours today, including lunch. I managed to stay on top of my regular workload too, which is pretty amazing, all things considered. More tomorrow, then followed by three days of offsite meetings. Fun times!
Oh, gosh, I hope your first day of uber long meetingland wasn't too bad. 🙁
Lisa – I have never heard from a publisher about whether they want a review on a specific date, so that makes me think early reviews are okay after all!
Matt – Emma is a great book and one that will help get you through a yucky afternoon!
Thanks, Kool-Aid Mom! I was posting them as soon as I finished, but someone had commented that they were glad for the preview and it started me thinking that maybe I should wait. Most of my ARCs will be published in February, so I guess a few weeks isn't too long in advance.
I really need to push through these next few books, then I am going to go back to reading what I want. I need the balance!
Yuck–you're coming week sounds awful! I'm afraid I don't have an answer for you as far as the ARCs are concerned; I've always wondered that myself. I usually try to post them close to the publish date but they may actually prefer to get the PR out sooner than that.
postmistress sounds interesting. The dreary weather here confines me at home to a book–Emma.
I usually post my reviews when I finish the book, unless there's a specific date I've been asked to do so.
I can totally relate to wanting to read something else. I'm working through old ARCs that I've been lazy about getting to, but am already getting whiney and looking at all the other books I've been dying to get to.
Book Dilettante – I did like it quite a bit. And thank you! I am going to need all the help I can get!
Diane – I did like it. My review will be up on Friday!
I'm looking forward to reading One Amazing Thing. Hope your stay awake during your meetings this week:)
I liked One Amazing Thing (hope you do to). I also hope to get Postmistress from the library soon.
Have a great Sunday Michelle
