Thoughts on books, family, and life in one impressive package.
Booking Through Thursday Button
I’m home today playing nursemaid to my sick little girl.  What better way to pass the time than to participate in the first Booking Through Thursday of 2010?!
  • What books did you get for Christmas (or whichever holiday you may have celebrated last month)?
  • Do you usually ask for books on gift-giving occasions or do you prefer to buy them yourself?

Well, I already answered this question over the holidays.  (I even included pictures!)  So, rather than rehash what I wrote, you’ll forgive me if I just link to my previous article about my gifts received, complete with my pretty pictures.

As for asking for books on gift-giving occasions, this is the first year I have ever deliberately asked for them.  Typically, I secretly hope that someone will remember that I am an avid reader and surprise me with a gift card to a book store.  Unfortunately, no one seems to remember that, and I never get either a book or a bookstore gift card.  This year, I took matters into my own hands and made sure I sent out my wish list to all of my relatives.  I feel comfortable receiving books as long as they are purchased from that list.  Otherwise, while I am fairly open to any and all books, I would prefer to buy off my list myself.  (Is that too snobby?)

What do you think?  Books as gifts or gift cards?
