Do you know why I love the book blogging community so much? I know of no other group that comes together as often as possible to celebrate our joint love of books, blogging and each other. From Book Blogger Appreciation Week to the semi-annual Read-a-Thons, we certainly know how to unite an ecletic group of people via the Internet. The latest event is the Annual Book Blogger Holiday Swap!
“It’s that time of year! The Halloween decorations are getting packed away, and the stores have turned their full attention to Christmas. Plans are frantically being made to have the perfect holiday season, and we are all examining our budgets to figure out how we’re going to make the dollars stretch into satisfying meaningful gifts.
We have a suggestion for you! Buy books.
Books are truly the best gifts and there is a book out there for everyone on your list. Once again, at Buy Books for the Holidays we encourage you to make this holiday season a literary season by:
1) Buying books for as many people on your list as you can
2) Donating to literacy charities for year end giving”
Just like the ladies hosting this event, I truly believe that literacy is one of the most important things we can support. I always try to buy books for my nieces and nephews in order to try to get them to read more and share my love of reading. Does it work? I like to think so, but even if it doesn’t, I’m not going stop. Nothing makes me happier than buying books for others!! How about you?

Debi – I have a feeling that most of my nieces and nephews are not particularly thrilled to get a book from Aunt Michelle each year, but I'm perfectly happy being the book-crazy Aunt.
Ceri – I know what you mean about Christmas. We are making plans, and I'm already being asked what the kids want this year. I'm not certain if I am ready for it yet or not.
Yep, I'm with you…buying books for people just makes me happy! Nearly everyone on our holiday list gets books from us…luckily most them are even happy about it. 😉
I always buy books for people – whether they want them or not. I love to encourage reading 😀
I can't believe Christmas is nearly here – it's so scary. Next week the Christmas lights/tree get turned on in town. Everything's happening so fast!
