I’m back! As I mentioned last night, no more blogging ban for me. I didn’t pass my exam (by only a few questions!) but am hoping to take it again this week and pass it before the end of the testing window. This means that I should be studying today but I’m not. I’ll continue to study during the week but I refuse to have the test consume me as much as it did last week. It’s just not worth it. I don’t like who I was last week – a horrible wife, a terrible friend, and a completely absent mother. It’s so sad that one exam can have such a devastating effect on one’s social life. Maybe I’m doing something wrong and letting it do that to me, but I don’t think so. I’ve had friends take the CPA exams and struggle just as much with balance while they were in the process of taking them. I will be glad to have this entire experience behind me. I promise I’m MUCH more interesting than I appear to be these days.
One of the few good things to happen this week is that I finally finished a book. I actually finished two this week, and it feels good to get them both behind me! I hate not finishing at least one book a week. I’ve also been having a few pretty good books-in-the-mail weeks. I’ve received at least four advanced reader copies in the mail, all of which look fantastic. And I’ve been hitting Barnes and Noble pretty hard lately. I think I’ve purchased at least fifteen books in the past two weeks. I just can’t help myself. Hi, I’m Michelle, and I am a book-a-holic!
Yesterday was the read-a-thon. I am SO impressed with the dedication of the book blogging community. While I didn’t read, I was a cheerleader and tried to spread around some joy and cheer among the participants. (I also grew my Google Reader subscriptions.) It was so fun to see the excitement and enthusiasm for books and reading. It is events like these that make me question how people can report that it is a dying hobby. If only the media could have followed the read-a-thon participants last night, they would change their mind in a flash! Congratulations to all the participants, both readers and cheerleaders! I am so proud to be part of the book blogging community!
Speaking of Google Reader, my official count is 870 unread posts. Guess what I’m doing today?
I hope everyone has a fantastic Sunday and an even better week! Happy Reading!

Thanks, Ceri! So close and yet not close enough, I guess. I'm going to try to do a better job of balancing life this week.
Trust me – there were times where I considered hitting “Mark All as Read” several times throughout the afternoon.
Thanks, Christina! I'm calling the organization first thing tomorrow to get my registration approved to see if I can put this puppy behind me!
Oh, hun, I'm sorry you didn't pass your exam. *hugs* And don't worry – I'm sure your family understand that you're under a lot of stress with juggling that and everything else.
Good on ya for finishing a couple of books. 😀
My Google Reader's very similar – eek!
Oh that's too bad but next time you will do it. I'm sending you good luck vibes.
