It’s Thursday! In addition to being one step closer to the weekend, it’s time for that favorite weekly meme of mine – Booking Through Thursday!
What’s the most informative book you’ve read recently?
This one is an easy one. This summer, I had the opportunity to read Wounded by School by Kristin Olson. Discussing the damage our current education system inflicts on children, this was a fascinating read. Ms. Olson explored the damage itself and how we can overcome it. Her real-life examples hit home, as the reader realizes how the damage inflicted by the school system has impacted every aspect of his/her life. Ms. Olson also focuses on those who have risen above the damage and who have used their experiences to ensure that other students do not have similar ones. It is an informative, profound read that is definitely worth the time!
So, what’s the most informative book you’ve read recently?

I think I said it when you reviewed it, but I really want to read this book!

busy91 – I don't think it was all that intense. I guess emotionally, it was because it did cause me to reflect on various situations that occurred to me as a kid. I'm definitely glad I read it.
Christine – I would totally recommend it for teachers but also to anyone with school-age kids. As a parent, I learned what to look out for and how to help diminish any bad effects at home. It is definitely a book that more people need to read.
I have seen this book and have thought about getting it for my brother (a teacher with some strong opinions of the public schools). I may have to give in and buy it! You can see my pick at:

Sounds like an intense read! 🙂
BTT
novelinsights – It's actually not that heavy, believe it or not. It was a fairly fast read, in my opinion, because I really wanted to get to her solutions to solve the problem split up among advice for teachers, for parents, and for learners themselves.
Thanks, gautami!
Oh that sounds pretty heavy. School is so influential in your life though whether it's the system or just the environment in general!
Now that is definitely informative!
