Last year, I saw a movie, I think it was called Definitely, Maybe, that got me to thinking. In this movie, one of the girls was on a quest to find a particular copy of Jane Eyre, I forget now the specific reason why. But in the process of her search, she ended up with this massive collection of Jane Eyre books, from all sorts of places and years and styles. She had a shelf that went all the way around her room, filled with these wonderful Jane Eyre books. It made me wish I had a collection like hers, a collection of one particular title, in all it’s various versions.
So, Weekly Geeksters, tell us, do you have a collection, (or are you starting a collection,) of one particular book title? If so, what’s your story? Why that book, and how many do you have, and what editions are they? Share pictures and give us all the details.
Or perhaps you
dream about starting such a collection. What title would it be and what would it take for you to get motivated to start collecting?
Or maybe it’s the works of a particular author you collect (or want to collect) instead a certain book title?
I do not collect one title of anything, although I do collect authors. Stephenie Meyer, Nora Roberts, Anne Rice, J.K. Rowling, even Jane Austen. I collect their works because I enjoy their works. While some are more enjoyable and are ranked higher than others, I tend to enjoy all of their works. More importantly, I can and do read them over and over again. My collections are like old friends. I go to them when I’m feeling bad or sick and know that they are going to make me feel better. No matter how many times I might re-read them, my feelings about the books never change, and they never cease to draw me in to their worlds. So, I know that I am going to enjoy almost everything written by any of those particular authors and will not hesitate to purchase one of their books based solely on the fact that they wrote it.
As for one-title collections, I’ll confess that I do not understand the interest. To me, there are so many great books out there that to spend time purchasing different copies of the same book seems like you are missing out on everything else. I look forward to reading people’s reasons for their one-title collections though!

Thanks, ladies! I'm curious if there are any one-title collectors out there, or does our status as professed bibliophiles prevent us from collecting one title?
I am more of an author collector than a title one as well. I think the most books I own by are: King, Koontz, Dickens and Dumas.
I too collect authors, not titles!
Weekly Geeks: I collect books not titles!
Good answer. 🙂 I definitely have to do this Weekly Geeks. I'm pretty much the same as you in that I'll like to collect authors – not one titles.
