1.”Do you love a little suspense in your life? Have you ever read a book that keeps you twisting and turning until the last page? Tell us about it (but not too much , we want to be left hanging ourselves). Or maybe there is a series of mysteries that you adore. Why do you keep reading about the same detectives?”***
2. To expand on that a little: the new TV series Castle revolves around a popular mystery writer. There’s even talk that a novel will be published supposedly written by Castle himself. TV and books will muddy the entertainment waters once again. I think we all know of the Agatha Christie and Sherlock Holmes series on PBS and BBC as well. Not to mention the new movie Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law will open December 25, 2009. Looks pretty exciting!
If you were to be given special TV or movie producing powers, which mystery novel character(s) would you create a TV series or movie for? Who would you cast in the major roles?
I’m not necessarily a big mystery person, per se. I like suspense but do not flock to one particular detective. I’ve read some Agatha Christie, some Sherlock Holmes, but one particular favorite detective does not come immediately to mind. If anything, if you would look at my personal library, you would immediately see that my favorite author is Nora Roberts. She is one of the best for suspense. Although she has no recurring characters, I know that I have difficulties putting down any of her books while reading them.
I’ll admit that my love of David Boreanez has me watching Bones and has started me reading more Kathy Reichs. I’m not completely sold on the Temperance Brennan books because Emily Deschanel does such a fabulous job on the TV series, but they would be about the only recurring detective novels I have read lately. As for the second part, since Temperance Brennan is played to perfection by Ms. Deschanel already, who am I to argue against that?

Frankly I was not namoured by JD Robb. Nor for that matter to Nora Roberts!

Kristen, she's been called one of the most prolific writers of all times, so it's no wonder you are seeing her stuff all over the place. If you like suspense and romance, I would highly recommend picking up one of her books. Let me know what you think if you do!
I've been wondering lately if I should read some of Nora Roberts – I see her all over the place
Kerrie, I did know that but I've been hesitant to get started in any of her J.D. Robb books. I have read all of her stuff under the Nora Roberts name and am fearful that I would spend too much time comparing the differences between the two. I imagine that one day I'll pick one of them up to check them out, but as much as I love her suspense romance novels, I'm just not that interested in her crime fiction series. Go figure.
Hello Michelle
Do you know that Nora Roberts also writes as J.D. Robb? – and those novels are a crime fiction series with Eve Dallas as the central character.
