It’s been a decent reading week. While I would always like to read more books, what I did read this week was addicting. In fact, I read one book in a day because I couldn’t stop. I hope this continues as we enter Thanksgiving weekend.
FINISHED SINCE THE LAST UPDATE:
Louisa Morgan’s novel about a family of witches was a lot of fun. Crossing generations, you get an inkling of the types of persecution strong women have always faced. Plus, the magic is a blast.
Jennie Melamed’s debut novel is disturbing AF. Like, nightmare-inducing, stomach-churning disturbing. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t good, but this should definitely come with a warning for those who struggle reading about taboos.
The sequel to The Diabolic was fan-freaking-tastic. It has been a long time since a book caused such emotional turmoil and my heart to race quite like this one. The only problem is now I have to wait another year for closure. Gah!
DID NOT FINISH:
The books I have been reading have been fantastic. I hope this streak lasts a long, long time.

Gather the Daughters might be a tad too disturbing for me. But I’m reading The Last Neanderthal now which you reviewed awhile ago. I’m finding it interesting and taking me to a different world!
I am glad you are enjoying The Last Neanderthal!
What do you think of The Exorcist? I listened to the audiobook and was pretty creeped out by the story and the author’s voice. I thought he did a pretty good job of it, but I also started listening to it while my husband and I started a late night road trip, so it the atmosphere seemed to heighten it up a notch.
I don’t know anything about The Diabolics, so I will definitely check that out!
Honestly, I didn’t find The Exorcist all that frightening. I’ve never seen the movie, but I was surprised to learn that I knew the story pretty well. That didn’t help because there were no surprises.
I can understand that! I think the mood in the car ride for me and my husband set that atmosphere, and then the author’s gravelly voice was what sunk into us both!
Yes, the author’s voice did seem to add its own layer of malevolence, didn’t it?
Glad you’re on a hot streak! Fingers crossed it continues!
Thanks, Sarah!
I was looking for a book about witches awhile back. Going to have to check this one out. Yay for getting into some great books! I hope it continues through your long weekend. Happy Thanksgiving!!
Thanks, Brandie! I hit a bump with my current read but hope that is the only one.
Finishing up UnSub by Meg Gardiner and then going to read Camino Island by John Grisham. It’s been a long time since I’ve read him and this one got a lot of good buzz.
Enjoy!
