Hip, hip, hooray!! RIP VII is here! My very favorite reading event of the year is finally here!

Here’s the scoop, per our fearless leader, Carl:
The purpose of R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril VII is to enjoy books and movies/television that could be classified (by you) as:

Mystery.
Suspense.
Thriller.
Dark Fantasy.
Gothic.
Horror.
Supernatural.
Or anything sufficiently moody that shares a kinship with the above.

Every book I buy or receive throughout the year immediately gets evaluated for its appropriateness for RIP. As you can imagine, my list of potential reads is huge. The challenge to myself will be to finally get to some books I’ve been wanting to read forever, like anything by Sarah Waters, Wilkie Collins’ THE WOMAN IN WHITE, or Shirley Jackson’s THE HOUSE ON HAUNTING HILL. Then, of course, I need to complete my annual read of DRACULA, although this year I have the full-cast audio version to enjoy.

Because I have so many books that fit the RIP category, I’ll be participating in both Peril the First (four books of any length), Peril on the Screen - because I probably should watch the movie IT after I finish listening to it on audio, and Peril of the Group Read – because they are reading Sarah Waters’ THE LITTLE STRANGER and I’ve had that on my unread shelves for at least two years now.

Is this ambitious? Absolutely not, as I have enough mysteries, suspense, thrillers, dark fantasy, gothic, horror and supernatural on my shelves to last me at least a year. This is my time to indulge and celebrate my favorite season of the year!
