Stephenie Announces 'The Host' Movie + Wants Your Fun Casting Suggestions :-)

Okay, this is going to be interesting - who's up for Stephenie's challenge?

Stephenie Announces 'The Host' Movie + Wants Your Fun Casting Suggestions :-): "Stephenie MeyerFrom Goddess' official website:
Hey guys, great news! The Host is on its way to the big screen:
Variety.com: 'Twilight's Meyer...'
I'm so excited to be working with Nick Weschler, and Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz to bring The Host to a visual format. They've all been a dream to work with, so lovely and collaborative, and I feel like we're in a really good place to make a great movie together. And then to have Andrew Niccol writing and directing? Truly awesome. If you've never seen Gattaca, go watch it now. One of my favorite movies of all time. It's such a great example of character driven science fiction, which is ideal for The Host, no? I'm having an absolute blast imagining different dream casts, which I would post if people didn't take my silly blogs so seriously these days. I'm looking forward to seeing the cast lists you come up with in the fansite forums, and if any of them match mine.
So, very exciting. Yay Host!

Wow, a challenge from Stephenie for us! Who would you cast??

That is great -- I've wanted this for a while now! I'm trying to think of who my casting decisions would be. I'd kind of like to see a few different people in each role... do you have any ideas yet?

Sarbear - I haven't given it any thought because I'm actually rather afraid how they are going to portray Wanderer and Melanie in the same person. Are they going to have internal monologue the entire time? Two different voices? This could be really horrible if not done correctly. I do know that Stephanie always said that she envisioned Matt Damon as the love interest, who's name is escaping me at the moment.

What???? Matt Damon? I really doubt he's gonna do that... you mean as Jared, right? I think he's good but I really hope they'll choose someone else for him!

Yes, as Jared. If you go to her website, listed under the book she talks about all sorts of things, like who she visualizes for each character. She may have taken it down now with her rising stardom, but when the book first came out, she had pictures and everything.

I hope she doesn't cast Matt Damon as Jared... he was nothing how I imagined it. I was kind of hoping she'd choose someone with not so much superstardom yet. Someone who could become Jared.

Honestly, I can't see Matt Damon wanting to do something like The Host. Too risky, IMO. But I do fear that someone with superstardom is going to want to be involved, if only because they've seen the furor over the Twilight movies and seen what it's done for KStew's RPattz, and Taylor's careers. We shall see...

I have quite a few suggestions for a lot of the characters. This is how I picture some of them. Hopefully some of you will agree.

Melanie - Jessica Alba, Kristen Kruek, Natalie Portman, or Sophia Bush
Jared - Jenson Ackles, Tom Welling, or Chris Pine
Wanda/Pet - Brittany Snow, Elizabeth Harnois, or Kristen Bell
Ian - Hayden Christenson, Ian Somerhalder, or Sean Feris
Kyle - Chris Pine or Steven Strath
Jamie - Josh Hutchenson or Skander Keynas
Doc - Christian Bale or Edward Norton
Jeb - Jeff Faley or Sam Elliot
Sunny - Mila Kunis
Seeker - Christina Ricci

Dana - Those are great choices! I've heard Sophia Bush's name bandied about quite a bit for Melanie, as has Jensen Ackles and Chris Pine's for Jared's. I've read that Ian Somerhalder is hands-down the favorite for Ian. Your choice of Doc is interesting, but would definitely draw the ladies. I love your choice of Seeker too. Very cool!!
